Angie's skipped class, so it's up to Aniki to bring her the notes and assignments she'd missed! However, when he finds her with alcohol on hand, things become far more entertaining.

◊ HOPE'S PEAK MIRACLES

Ugh, P.E., it's the same-old same-old. Souta's goggling at girls, Aniki's bored out of his mind, and there are losers everywhere. Time for the school's two oldest troublemakers to have some fun, and this time, it's basketball.

◊ MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Christmas is coming soon, and Mikoto decides to drag Aniki to the Secret Santa event being held. What awaits our reject now!? Let's hope he doesn't get a bucket of coal for Christmas...

✓ WATER IN MY HANDS

Min Su-Mi and Aniki team up to tease Souta! But it takes a turn for the worse when the true meaning behind Souta's SHSL title is revealed, and the Souta-Aniki duo break up with unresolved tension, leaving Su-Mi uncertain.

PROLOGUE

✓ ALL ABOARD THE S.S. DESPAIR!

It's a motherfucking ship. Aniki's not sure of what's going on, but when he wakes up in a place he certainly didn't fall asleep in, heads are going to roll. To make matters worse, Monokuma happens.

CHAPTER 1

◊ ANTITHESIS

Aniki took interest in Sasaki Ryuu earlier in the Prologue, so what could this meeting lead to...? Tempers run high when Sasaki gives manipulation a try and makes a proposal Aniki finds absolutely insulting, however.

✓ ROCKS FALL, EVERYONE DIES

While poking around in the kitchen, Aniki has the pleasure of running into one Angie Elisaveta, who's obviously up to something fishy. Things get tense when Aniki decides to make it his business to know what she's up to.

◊ SWEET SCIENCEY MAGIC

There's no food, so why not try water? Aniki's out to have fun with his impromptu science experiment, and he runs into Takabe Kenji while he's at it. The two somehow strike up a conversation.

✓ FEASTING ON DESPAIR

In a gruesome turn of events, the first victim of this "Despair Game" is discovered to be none other than Miss Penelope Baron! But food and morbidity really shouldn't go hand in hand.

✓ INVESTIGATIONS

The remaining students quickly pair up and set about exploring the ship. Aniki's left with Saotome Hazuki, and they make their way to the cabins to see what they can unearth.

◊ CLASS TRIAL

Who killed Penelope Baron? Will the students on the ship be able to convict the right murderer!? Or will they all die... while the blackened walks free?

Anzhelika Elisaveta

[ Pre-Despair ]
Angie is like the little sister Aniki may or may not have ever had, and the reject loves her almost as much as he loves Mikoto. He dotes on her because he can. On some level, however, he seems to think she's still somewhat fragile and needs to be protected and sheltered, and wouldn't trust her to fight alone in a crisis. Likes to tease her.

[ Post-Despair ]
Things are different now that Aniki's forgotten his surrogate younger sister. He still sees her as fragile, but most of all he thinks he sees her breaking somewhere inside. The fact she's struggling to keep herself from the inevitable amuses him, and he relishes in watching her question herself and scaring her. Calls her "Angie" because that was how she introduced herself.

Kenji Takabe

Male ▣ 17 ▣ Skateboarder ▣ 1 FTE

[ Post-Despair ]
Takabe is... Aniki isn't really sure what to make of him. The skater seems harmless for the most part, but he's obviously not as dumb as some people would like to think he is. He's also probably one of the most blindingly honest and straightforward people the reject's ever met. There's something about that skull chain necklace of his, but for now, Aniki is too wary to try and get any closer.

Mikoto Kamitani

Female ▣ 19 ▣ Justice ▣ Established

[ Pre-Despair ]
Mikoto will always be just a little more special than anyone else. They're not lovers, no, and definitely never will be, but they're currently rooming together and are intimate enough that they might sometimes be mistaken for a couple. It seems they share a past. Though Mikoto is capable in her own right, she is the first Aniki would lay his life down for without question.

Min Su-Mi

Female ▣ 15 ▣ Copycat ▣ 1 FTE

[ Pre-Despair ]
Aniki is unmistakably fond of this girl, mostly because she's so whimsical and buys him lunch when he has to go to the cafeteria. Sure she's not Angie-level family yet, but she's always welcome should she ever drop by to see him. He thinks she's a bit like a cat, always coming and going as she pleases, but it's just the way he likes her, so he doesn't mind.

Ryuu Sasaki

Male ▣ 16 ▣ Strategist ▣ 1 FTE

[ Post-Despair ]
Aniki honestly doesn't think too highly of Sasaki. He tried a little trust, but was only rewarded with a faceful of unapologetic manipulation, which he found cowardly and prideless, so any semblance of respect or interest Aniki might have once held for this boy has transformed into a smoldering distaste. Sometimes calls him "messiah."

Souta Kagetane

Male ▣ 20 ▣ Big Brother ▣ 2 FTEs

[ Pre-Despair ]
Complicated. Souta was a real friend despite all the bickering and dick-waving they did. He also hadn't been a bad bedmate, and in fact, Aniki admired Souta for being mentally stronger than he was. The fact that Souta's part of the yakuza really bothers the reject now that the cat's outta the bag, and he finds himself avoiding the other man if he can help it.
