[/b] As if this day couldn’t get any more annoying. Pretty much everyone on the ship would admit that life here on the open sea wasn’t as glamorous as what they were accustomed to. The perpetual motion had those without their sea legs falling over all the time, there was always the threads than a certain someone would bring the masts down in some wacky way, and of course there was always the fear someone would snap soon and murder someone so they could eat and go home. No, no can’t think about that. Scowling at himself for even thinking someone would consider such a heartless action, Kenji slapped himself across the face to motivate himself before grunting once more as he yanked on whatever it was he was trying to pull up from the storage room. While everyone else had spent the time since the stupid (…tapir? Was that right?) toy had killed one of their own searching for their any supplies or equipment they could use to contact help or way to take over the ship, Kenji had honestly spent the majority of his time the last few days searching for a while, giving up and trying to break into any area the rules said wouldn’t get him killed for breaking into with little to no success, and it had gotten to the point where even the most cheerful of cheerful skaters was starting to get annoyed. With a huff the blonde teen had changed courses, clearing off a section of the deck that wasn’t littered with debris and wouldn’t give him PTSD from what happened to the Heroine and had started to lug up anything he could use for whatever it was he was making. With a digh of effort, Kenji dropped some bits of rope he had discovered when he had been investigating the storage room and looked around the rest of the deck, rubbing his chin deep in thought as the skater pondered the wonders of the universe, or something to that effect. "Now, if I were a skate course, what would I beeeeee.."Aniki Greyson[/ul]

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. It had taken Aniki three round trips to and from the dining room to move everything he needed out onto the deck, but by the time he was finished, he was more than pleased with himself and all set to go, so it hadn't been that big of a deal. Carrying a few bowls and things hadn't exactly been backbreaking work, after all. But. But! It was finally time for him to embark on his quest for drinkable water, and it was with something close to childish glee that Aniki approached his task. He hadn't had a chance to try this particular method in a long time, and while he knew it worked, he had never been able to do it in such a carefree setting. Even with the threat of imminent death and starvation hanging over his head, he found that this cloudless day was too fine to brood in, and he rarely got the chance to enjoy the nice weather like this. More relaxed and at peace than he had been in days, Aniki took a moment to pause his work and wave at another student who was on deck, wondering just what the hell the blond skater was doing so deep in thought. Regardless, the reject was in a good enough mood to be genuinely friendly for once, not to mention he actually did need the rope to draw up some water. He'd seen it lying around earlier, but he'd also spotted the skull-capped skater walking around with it up towards deck, so he hadn't gone back down to get some of his own. "Hey Takabe!" he called, approaching said blond good-naturedly enough. If the skater couldn't deal with the degree of impoliteness the lack of honorific implied, then he would just have to suck it up; Aniki didn't usually tack on an honorific to any of the names he said. [I'm real sorry this didn't really take off on my end. there was a situation I had to deal with the last few days]
Hey Takabe
"Uungh?"
Eloquent, no? Stunned out of his own little stupor at the sound of his own name, the skateboarder looks around lazily for the person who had called his name before spotting the Super High School Level Reject. Still didn't know what that meant actually or why being the best reject got you invited to attend one of the more prestigious high schools, whose graduates were the world leaders of tomorrow but hey: He was only asked to attend because he could ride a plank of wood pretty well, who was he to talk? Only vaguely registering that Aniki had asked if he could use some of the various lengths of rope Kenji had dragged up from the storage room. Now, Kenji was all for sharing, don't get him wrong. Sharing was one of the fundamentals for getting along and surviving this boat ride to the gates of hell, but not even Kenji was dumb enough to hand over a weapon to someone when the rules were you had to kill to leave.
"It ain't no problem, but..."
okay maybe he was And believe him, there was a but. Sauntering over uninvited with whatever length of rope he hadn't set aside to outline the skate course he was in the beginning stages of constructing, Kenji stifles a yawn as he approached the other boy who seemed to be doing some planning ov his own, and the skater drops some coil of rope at his feet, placing a large boot on top of it to keep Aniki from just taking it and leaving, however
"What'chu need it for?"

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. Overall, Aniki didn't blame the blond for his suspicion; had the reject been in the latter's shoes, he would've been suspicious as well. That didn't stop the older teen from (mentally) rolling his eyes though. Technically, anything could be used as a weapon if you were smart enough to think of how, and using the glassware set out in front of him would've been one of the easiest ways. You could never underestimate the power of broken glass, after all. Anyone who was smart enough to fight dirty (honor would get you nowhere in a brawl) knew that. If you didn't want to do that, knocking someone over the head with a heavy bowl was bound to do some damage as well. Besides, wrestling the rope out of the muscular skater was too risky a move, especially in broad daylight in the most open area on board. "Easy now," Aniki replied placatingly, bringing his hands out where Takabe could see them before he moved them—slower than he really had to so that the other wouldn't be taken off guard by any sudden movements—to gesture at the collection of bowls and things he had gathered from the kitchen. "Just lookin' to draw some water, that's all. If I'm gonna die on this ship, I'd rather not die from dehydration. That'd just be a lame way to go."Shrugging, Aniki canted his head to the side and then fired off a few questions of his own. "Now that I think about it, what's up with you? The hell would you need a buncha rope for?" If Takabe was uneasy about handing over some rope, a possible murder weapon to him, Aniki would return that question. What the hell was the blond doing with a weapon? TAGGED | NOTES no worries, it's cool. i know how life can get. hope everything's okay on your end o/ |

I meant to do this earlier, the week just kinda got away from me.
"Draw water?"
Kenji couldn't put his finger on what it was exactly that had made him so uneasy of the older male, was it his mannerisms, his looks, the general lack of empathy he seemed to have for anyone else that was trapped on this ship to nowhere, or some strange grab bag mix of the three, but at the older man's indication his gaze turned towards the setup he had scattered across the deck. Okay, so far his story checked out, gotta give him that much if nothing else. Still, that left the obvious question:
"What for? I mean, we ain't being denied water, right?" It seemed to be an odd waste of energy for something that they were supposed to have access to, but hey, who was he to judge someone else. With a half shrug the muscular young man removed his foot from the coils of rope he had dropped on the ground and shoved his hands into his short pockets and let his mind wander around, daydreaming again about all the cool things he could be doing right now, until he was brought right back to reality with a fair question in its own right
""Now that I think about it, what's up with you? The hell would you need a buncha rope for?"
Ah.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllll..." Jeez, this was embarrassing. A fair question Kenji had to admit and the skater makes it a point to avert his gaze, suddenly becoming very fascinated with a cloud that loomed overhead that somehow seems to have taken on the shape of what Kenji would claim was supposed to be a bovine. Something told him that telling Aniki the truth: that he had been trying to let up the outline of a skate course so he wouldn't be so goddamned bored on this ship" would be a mistake.
"It's a long story, lets save it for another time." Instead, Kenji quickly takes a seat near the bowls and other assorted items Aniki had gathered, crossing his legs underneath him, fondling his skull chain of a necklace as the skater took a sudden interest in whatever it was Aniki was doing.
"Anyway; don't let me interrupt ya."

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. "..."Aniki actually stopped what he was doing and stared at Kenji for a moment, wondering what it was that wasn't clicking with the blond. "No, we aren't," he agreed slowly, "and that's the point. Monokuma never said we couldn't drink water. Can't use the sewer system though since who knows how tap water circulates on this ship, and we're bound to need it later if we don't know how limited our supplies are."Aniki shrugged, staring down at his collection with a hint of pride. "Besides, this way is funner."Looked like his good mood wasn't going to last though. While the reject would've loved to just let Takabe's vague explanation go, it wasn't in his nature to do so. The biggest problem was that the skater was avoiding to explain why he had dragged a possible weapon up to the top of the deck in the first place, and that was a little concerning. With an inward sigh, Aniki let some of his easygoing air go, gaze sharpening though he kept them on his hands. "Well I'll say. We've got all the time we need, so why not tell it? I can listen while I work."Now that the younger student wasn't in possession of the rope anymore, Aniki squatted down and set to work, tearing out a length of plastic wrap to wrap around the cut end of the rope. Thankfully, one of the bowls—more a bucket than a bowl, really—came with a handle, so the reject wouldn't have to worry about whether have to double up the rope and get something too short to reach the sea. Knotting the portion wrapped in plastic around the handle, he forwent actually gathering any water and began to set up the rest of the bowls, waiting for the other student to begin speaking first to make sure he wasn't going to endanger himself by leaning over the railing to lower his bucket. Takabe didn't really seem like the type to kill, at least not to Aniki. But it was still better safe than sorry. It always was. TAGGED | NOTES take your time c: |

[/s] "Well I'll say. We've got all the time we need, so why not tell it? I can listen while I work.""Tch."Of course he'd have be the type of person to press an issue. Kenji made a show of sucking on the inside of his cheek as he stared pointedly up at the clouds that were drifting along overhead and forces himself to stare at the sky, stare and stare until the cloud he had been looking at had long since moved out of focus and everything else was a blur. There was a part of his psyche that realized "Don't be an idiot, just tell him you needed it for skateboarding bullshit, it's not a big deal." On the other hand, there was a smaller, more vocal part of Kenji's brain that was yelling "fuck this guy, none of his business" Guess which one he listened too? "D'ya have dreams, dude?" The connection didn't appear very clear to most people, but as Aniki turned to take care of...whatever, Kenji had taken to lounging lazily on his back on the deck, arms tucked behind his head with one leg draped over the other, casual as fuck. Gazing at Aniki out of the corner of his eye, Kenji fiddles with the large black chain that hangs from his neck as he weighed any response the older boy could come up with. "Not like sleep dreams, but like goals and shit, yanno?"[/ul]

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. Of course the question would be ignored. Aniki found Takabe a little unpredictable half because he simply didn't know the other man well enough and half because he wasn't used to hanging with people who were so... simple? No, not quite, a little too derogatory. Content? Nah, that wasn't it either. He didn't have a word for it, but it was different, and while part of Aniki kind of hated not having a general idea of what the skater might throw at him, another part of him thought it was almost refreshing in a way. So ignoring the question entirely and asking about something as innocent as dreams instead was... an oddly Takabe-like thing to do. With a snort, Aniki decided to just let the matter drop. He was about 90% sure the skater didn't have the drive to kill, so he shunted that thought to the back of his mind and actually set about pondering dreams as he stepped over to the edge of the ship and dropped the bucket overboard. Thankfully, there was enough rope for the thing to actually hit the water with a slap. Yeah, his mind mumbled with sardonic humor, money, sex, and alcohol. Easier said than done. More realistically, however, the answer was "no". Wasting time entertaining a dream you could never hope to achieve was pointless and depressing when your biggest worries should've been when your next meal was or how you could make sure you didn't find yourself lying dead in a ditch somewhere. Aniki honestly didn't know what Takabe was expecting out of someone like him; his life was—had been—too fucked up to hold onto something as innocent as a dream. As it was, there wasn't really much he wanted to still live for, but give a little, get a little, right? There didn't seem to be any ulterior motives underlying the question anyway, so he'd give it a try. Better Takabe than anyone else; the skater gave off won't-judge vibes and didn't seem like he'd make a big deal out of anything really, might even forget the conversation, so that made Aniki feel just a little more comfortable with sharing something he deemed so personal. "I think when I was a kid, I wanted ta be an astronaut or somethin' like that. But now?" he asked, staring pensively at the water. Ugh he wasn't good at this opening up thing, didn't like giving parts of himself away. It was easier being a secret when his whole life had been consumed by a secret. Besides, this wasn't the sorta thing he could entertain without the help of a drink. "I dunno man. Haven't found one yet." He kinda just lived, went along with whatever bullshit life had to throw at him, lived between highs and lows. Ugh, that last part made him sound a bit like a druggie. "Maybe you should give me one. A goal, I mean," he joked with a halfhearted smirk, but he honestly didn't really think anything would come out of that. Takabe was just that unpredictable. Anyway, what did people say in conversations like these? Uh... Fuck it, he didn't remember how to do this thing, it was already good enough that he was at least trying. "And you? What're you shootin' for?" he asked around a grunt, slowly starting to heave the filled bucket back to the deck. Dreams? Well of course he had them, what kind of normal person didn't? And yet for some reason Kenji can't help but feel...despondent. A few simple weeks ago, Ken would have cheerfully chatted away with anyone who wasn't completely deaf about his goals and dreams for the future, whether that was continuing on with skating or giving in and following on with the family tradition like his parents were always nagging him about whenever they were around. But after all this time of no food and after seeing a classmate murdered in such a horrific fashion, did he, did any of them have any right to still have hopes and dreams?
"I dunno, man." Scratching his jaw lazily, Kenji turned to focus on whatever it was Aniki had been doing, eyebrow raised as the older boy strained to pull the bucket onto the deck. Shame about his personality really, but Aniki Greyson was a goodlooking man. "I used'ta thing skating was my dream. My way to superstardom, yanno? But now"
Minor pause, just long enough to rub his jaw and curse to himself at the fucked up position these teenagers all found themselves in, prayed to god once again to please send help, to let them go home.
"I'd snap my board in half tomorrow if it meant I got ta go home."

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. Could you really reach stardom through skateboarding alone? Aniki didn't know; he wasn't part of that world anymore. But everyone dreamed while trampling on others to reach them. Humans, animals, everything. What difference did it make if someone died? You just got up and kept going; there wasn't anything else you could do. If you didn't have a dream left, you drifted, drowning, and if you did, you walked towards it. It was kind of silly to be sad now. Every day, people were either directly or indirectly condemning others, to death or to worse. Was it just the fact you couldn't see it happening that made it acceptable? Or was it only unacceptable if it applied to someone you cared about and shared a connection with? Having successfully retrieved the bucket, Aniki carefully lowered it to the deck. Silence reigned as he ducked his head down and did his work, only the sound of rippling water and the skater's brooding interrupting it. His bangs were flopping back into his eyes, but the reject had his hands full, so he let them hang. "Even if ya say that, 'home' will never be the same anymore." There was no way to undo the blemish that girl's death had caused. Their hands might not yet be dirty with deaths of their own, but you didn't walk away from a scene like that unscarred and go back to a charade of normalcy as if nothing had happened. ...Or something like that. It didn't matter to Aniki whether he stayed or went; the only difference between the ship and his prior environment was that he was more powerless here: a sitting duck.
