"Well, that sure was something. Raiden isn't that bad of a guy after all... I think I could get used to him staying around.", Daniel thought after having left the Cafeteria while he was on the way back to his room.
He still couldn't believe that he and fourteen other strangers were supposed to kill one another for really no reason. It didn't make sense in his head. When he was with Raiden, he pondered to tell him about how he probably deserved something like that because he was a horrible person in his last life, but Raiden probably would not have taken the Procrastinator seriously, so he decided not to say anything regarding that matter.
Since there was really nothing else to do, and nobody else seemed to have been around, barring someone watching Daniel's every move or something, he approached the door to his room. Slowly, he decided to reach into his pockets and fumble around, looking for his electroID, or however that bear called it.
While still fumbling, he remembered that he had to be careful, so he turned around, so his back faced the door to his room, that way no one could sneak in from behind and kill him that way.

Lindsay was heading back to her room. At this point she had all but given up the hunt for clues or some way to escape. However she still had to go about the grind. For one it was something to do. For another it would possibly make her look less like she might be plotting a crime. Third it gave her a chance to see some of the pretty people she was trapped here with. And hey speaking of pretty people...
"Hey, your Daniel right? Ultimate Procrastinator? I was wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions." Lindsay said. An interview would be a good chance to talk with him. Right now though he did look a bit suspicious. What the hell was he doing standing with his back facing the door fumbling around in his pockets.
"Your not doing anything... weird right?" Lindsay asked with a small smile. She wasn't expecting him to try and kill her but she had to stay on her guard. As that voice inside her would say, "In a game where ones life is on the line, everyone is suspicious."
In this case, Lindsay agreed with the voice entirely.

In times like these, Daniel felt like he was being blessed with that brain of his. Some people might think differently, but the Procrastinator was proud of his wits. As if he saw the future, someone actually appeared. Had he not turned around just then, his life would have been in grave danger.
He looked at the person who snuck up on him, it was the SHSL Reporter girl. Making sure not to make any sudden movements, he raised a hand in greeting.
"Hello, Lindsay.", he stated with a smile. "Me? I'm not doing anything weird. I think. You see, my electroID kinda got lost in my pockets and I was looking for it. I just came from the cafeteria, and I just know that I didn't remove it there."
He raised an eyebrow when she wanted to ask him questions, but then dealt with it nevertheless. "Questions? But I've got nothing interesting to say. I mean, I don't mind. I'll answer almost anything you throw at me."
He looked through his pockets again until he finally found his electroID and triumphantly held it in the air for a second before opening the door to his room.
"But why don't we talk inside?", he asked. Motioning for Lindsay to go in before him, he politely said "Ladies first."

He was inviting her in? That meant he wanted her right? Calm down Lindsay, you can't let yourself get too out of hand yet. Daniel was just asking her in because of the questions. That was all it was.
"O-of course that's fine. " Lindsay said. She moved into the room. Lindsay got out a notepad and a pencil, and started out her notes.
"Ok first things first Mr. Saotome, what sort of title is Ultimate Procrastinator and what is your story of how you came to be accepted at Hope's Peak Academy?" Lindsay asked, getting into professional mode. She figured Daniel would be easygoing enough to be able to roll with getting straight into it.

Daniel sighed. The sooner he appeased Lindsay, the better, or so he thought.
"Well, Ultimate Procrastinator is kinda selling me short if I do say so myself. I'd call myself the... Ultimate Pressure Worker, as I'm very good at working when I don't have a lot of time left. Basically I'm at my best when I'm under pressure. This situation the bear threw us in would be a good example, you know? We have a time limit of two weeks, and if I killed one of you during the last, say, half an hour, I'd be at my best."
He looked around when the Reporter inquired on his story. "Story? What story?", he began. "I was born, I lived, I got accepted to Hope's Peak and landed here instead. That's it."
The Procrastinator figured that Lindsay wouldn't be content with what he had said, but there really wasn't a lot of things to say. It's not like she would have any use for that information he gave her, so why even bother telling her his entire backstory, or lack thereof?

That wasn't exactly what she wanted. To be fair, his talent was good stuff. However while his whole, "I am just an ordinary person, nothing special has happened to me." Routine was expected, it was also disappointing. Self-deprecation was only sexy when it wasn't an escape tactic or a replacement for a personality. This was the sort of thing that would give her pause before she rifled through his underwear drawer or dug a peephole to look in on him while he changed. Oh and also it was a big blow to her story and pride as a reporter that he would try and weasel out of a question like that.
"Ok Mr. Saotome...how did you first discover your talent? And how was your family life like?" Lindsay asked. Maybe more specific questions would yield better results.

Daniel couldn't help but sigh again. Now he knew how those celebrities felt when journalists and paparazzis just came along and made the day worse. What does Lindsay even want with that information? Figure out his weaknesses and then kill him when he least expected it? As if. The only thing she'll get is the stuff that would make even Captain Obvious facepalm.
Daniel leant back with his arms behind his had, trying to not reveal too much of his life.
"I found my talent via trial and error.", he plainly stated. It was true, but did she really need to know how and when and why this all started? He thought she didn't, so he left it at that. The Procrastinator also replied to the second question non-chalantly. "My family life was pretty good."
Now who cared about details again? The lazy boy sure didn't. He just had to await Lindsay's response.

Lindsay sighed. This wasn't going anywhere. Why did he have to be so evasive? If he didn't want to share anything, why did he invite her in? Unless this was all a pretext for sexy time...but Lindsay somehow doubted that.
Maybe she should give him some of her background first. That usually got people to open up.
"You know...I would really prefer more details. Reporters live on details you know? But I suppose it might be helpful if I shared a few things. My Mother and Father were both journalists so I was sorta raised with the business. They taught me a lot and what they didn't teach me I learned by observing them. Eventually I got a column of my own, and then began working on broadcasts for both a local station as well as doing freelancing for more International news orgs. I think the straw that finally got me an invitation was when I interviewed several Ultimate level students." Lindsay said.
"Now are you going to give me anything more or...?" Lindsay asked.

Daniel grinned at Lindsay. "Man, you're being serious about this, aren't you?", he chuckled. "I was just having a bit of fun. Now, don't get mad, you'll get the information you want."
He recalled the questions the Journalists asked him. He did tell her on what he thought his talent was. He didn't think he could be more verbose on that, so he skipped that question in his mind. The second question was about his life up until that point.
"You know...", he began. "My life up until the invitation really was uneventful. I never got into any real fights, and bullies never bothered me really. It's just funny how even though my parents told me to be more diligent, they weren't the hardest workers themselves. I suppose if I had been just a tad more diligent in my work and not have gotten the invitation, I wouldn't be here. I guess this is karma?", he chuckled.
Next question, new answer. "I didn't lie when I said I found my talent via trial and error. I just experimented around in school to see just how far I could go for the best grades. That's how I found that if I start things at the last half an hour, or even closer to the deadline, my work and therefore my grades, turned out to be phenomenal. In the end, it's still better than being invited just because of sheer luck, right?"
And naturally, last question with a satisfactory answer. "I love my family. My mom, dad, two sisters and brother. I'm the third of four children. My older brother is the most diligent person in my family. He works as a mechanic in Germany. My older sister deals with money at the bank and my younger sister is about to enter high school herself. In case you're wondering, I'm actually biracial. German and Japanese. My sisters have fully Japanese names while me and my brother have it mixed."
Daniel then moved his fingers to his chin in a thinking manner. "Hmm, what else is there to say? I mean, although we have our fair share of fights, they're never severe. We always support another whenever we can and... yeah. That's about it, I guess."
He figured Lindsay just had to be content with this, but if she had anymore questions, he probably wouldn't hesitate to answer. He had his fun, now she gets hers.

Lindsay nodded and took notes. Now she was getting somewhere.
"That's a great start Daniel. Hm...how about your romantic life? Have you had any girlfriends? Or boyfriends?" Lindsay asked. She awaited his response with some eagerness. Not only was this a useful pivot to more intriguing questions but it was also one that might effect them personally. Having a nice fling with Daniel, considering the circumstances, could be ok. Surely the viewing public wouldn't hold it against her? Or maybe they would but...would it even matter? This story she was in was already so amazing. Lindsay could cash in big time and become an analyst or something. Yeah, that could work.
"You stupid whore." The voice said, "Your only trying to justify what a dirty, perverted, disgusting girl you are. Your no different from that Fey boy. At least he is honest about it." It was her voice inside, but it would never shut up. It would never stop telling her to push herself, or how sick she was. Lindsay knew she was sick. She didn't need that voice telling her otherwise.
But it would just never stop.
On the outside though, her expression didn't crack. She was used to thinking these things after all.
"Don't worry though Lindsay. You'll always have me when they abandon you for being so depraved. I'll figure out how to get you out of the mess you put yourself in. Like always." the voice said.
"Oh! And what are your plans for the future? When we get out of here I mean?" Lindsay asked, keeping up her cheery, professional facade.

Daniel couldn't help but notice the slight change in expression when Lindsay asked her next question. Honest as he always was, he responded.
"Romantic life? Please. It's all just a ploy from the other person to get what they want and when they have it, they'll drop you like a hot potato. I don't intend to look for a girlfriend, and I'm not attracted to the male gender. Though I remember that I once read a newspaper with someone who might also have been a Hope's Peak student. Her name was Kaneko Nejibisu, and she had beautiful eyes. I don't really recall what that article was about, though..."
Daniel continued on. "Even so, romance brings nothing but trouble. You see, the less people I have around me who complain about every single little thing I do, the better. And marriage is just hell. Don't even get me started on procreation. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil."
He laughed to calm himself down. Surely Lindsay wouldn't mind that, would she?
He then looked around, avoiding Lindsay's eyes at first but then facing her head-on. "My plans for the future when we get out? More like IF we get out. There's no guarantee that the bear was truthful in what he said. For all we know, we kill each other here for nothing. In case he didn't lie, then I'd probably live my life as usual, back home with my family, treating this situation as if it never happened. Like a bad dream, you know?"
He sighed. "Or the likelier option, I'm not getting out of here alive anyway. I'm easy pickings. Not that anyone would really care, aside from my family."

Lindsay disagreed with him. Sure it was tough but...romance was really important! Not just cause the sex was supposed to be better if you loved the person but...also because then you don't have to be lonely. You have someone who understands you.
Procreation she didn't exactly care about. She preferred the activity that lead to it more then the idea of having kids. But still...she didn't understand such an utterly cynical perspective.
"I'm sure we will get out alive. Who would want to kill you? Nobody views you as a threat. And I am probably safe too. Nobody much takes me seriously either." Lindsay said.
"I don't trust the bear...but the fact that we are still alive means there is hope. He actually wants to play this game, so he probably means to keep his end of the bargain so it's a fair fight. Sadists of this sort enjoy that...from what I've heard." Lindsay said.
Sadly Daniel's attitude made him unlikely to be a potential bedroom partner. She would have to look elsewhere.
"That was a good start for today. Maybe we can pick this up again later? I think then I might have some more questions." Lindsay said.
"So unless you have something to ask me. I think I'll leave." Lindsay said getting up. She had more or less distracted herself for a bit and helped out Daniel too. All while building a rapport with him that could work to her advantage in the future.

Daniel leant back and sighed contentedly.
"You're thinking quite optimistically, aren't you? I mean, from what I said earlier, you might think I'm cynical, but I think of myself more as a... let's say, realist. It's a fact we're stuck on bloody Mars of all places. It's also a fact that none of us can trust one another as of right now. We were just told to go kill each other. Spending time with Raiden earlier and letting you in right now is proof that I'm a fool."
He looked Lindsay dead in the eyes. "Raiden could have easily offed me. Hibiki could snap my neck at any moment she desired. Zephyr could poison me. Kairu could bludgeon me. You might have something on your person that could end with me dead. The list goes on."
Daniel enjoyed the offer of him asking her questions. He of course had to continue being the cynic, so he began to ask the journalist.
"Do you think we're here for a reason? Is it fate? Why us in particular?" He could've spared Lindsay the question of the reason, but he figured she might have something interesting to share.
If he had any other interesting questions, he'd ask them. He also followed up the questions with one last sentence. "If you don't want to answer these questions, that's fine by me too."
