Naoya Akamura If only our hopes could have twinkled like the stars over our heads. - 416 WORDS - | This... was unreal. Every fiber of his being. Every single rational thought in his brain was screaming that this just wasn't happening. They were on a planet around two hundred million miles from earth, and a remote controlled garbage toy was telling them either they kill each other, or they all suffocate. He wondered, for a split second, if Iris was a real person and slipped him some seriously twisted drugs.
Yet, he sighed. 'You'd have to be an idiot to believe any of this was real...' His eyes were yet again drawn to the martian landscapes right before them. While everyone reeled from the threats, he just stared, trying to control his breathing. He needed to be calm now. Panic would bring disaster. '..With such high stakes, though, you'd have to be an even bigger idiot to just deny this is happening.'
His eyes locked onto the floor. He needed some sort of solace. Anything. A memory from not so long ago played in his head, and as it did, his eyes closed. '...I can't just lay down and die here. I need to finish it.'
Finally, the azure haired boy dragged himself back to reality. Some of them seemed to have started arguing over appointing a leader.
"There's really no winning here." He muttered, looking at the green haired girl. Hibiki, right? "Yeah, appointed a leader seems stupid right now. Frankly, we have no reason to trust each other with this thing telling us it's kill or be killed." He paused. What the hell was he doing.
"...But just blindly going with that rule is more than idiotic. If we go about this like a free for all than people will certainly die. Maybe though.." His fist clenched and unclenched several times. "Maybe we can find some sort of way out of this. This place is big. The least we could do is try to find some damn answers. I rather know why and how we're here." A sigh escaped him again. "Besides.. The bear's trying to scare us. Make us doubt that there's any hope at all. It wants us to react badly, and be irrational."
His eyes locked onto that horrible red light in it's head. In his own eyes was pure hatred. "Right?"
Did he trust a single person here with his life? No. He didn't even trust that they gave their true names. But if he just went like that forever, than he was setting himself up for failure.

Unbelievable. What the hell was even going on? A...killing game? What kind of game uses people lives as bait for a reward? There was no way this was real, it was just too...bizarre. Had this been a trick played on them by Mendacius? That was the only reasonable explanation. A trick by the gods...that's all it was right?
That changed when when the bear brought out the video. Other students, brutally murdering each other like savages. That was when the reality of the situation finally hit Apollo. He was stuck in this place, the only way out is to end someone's life.
"No...that won't happen. No one here is actually stupid enough to kill someone else."
Apollo may have thought that, but he was still cautious, he wouldn't let his guard down, even for a second. He remained calm and listened to what the others had to say, perhaps they could help shed some light on this...less than fortunate situation.
“We…we need a leader, dudes. Someone who’s gonna keep us all on track and like…united, I guess. And for what it’s worth, I nominate me.”
Apollo could only chuckle. Did that girl really think she could so easily become the leader?
"Hmph, if anyone here was to be leader, it would be me. Did you forget? I'm the SHSL Emperor. I actually have experience being a leader, the leader of an entire emperor at that. Of course...we could theoretically function as a democracy. And as such I would have to go with the opinion of the majority. I believe having one leader would be unwise."
If they all worked together they could potentially all escape, but chances of them all being willing to work together as one was pretty slim. As for now, Apollo could only hope that they could at least try.

Yuukyoku looked towards the source of the sound that interrupted her as the bear made it on to the scene. What it then began to talk about shook her to her very core. A Game. A Killing Game. A Game where you had to murder someone else to survive. While attention was pulled away from her she began to shake as rage built up and the others began reacting to it, prompting the bear to show them video.
Other people their age, students, killing each other like he wanted them to do too. Proof that his little killing game had happened before and it would happen again. The anger in her just started building up more and more, and the others' reactions weren't helping at all. Already there were people starting to have minor conflicts, talks about who should be leader, going their separate ways out of distrust of the group, and no one saw what was really happening.
"EVERYONE JUST STOP FOR A MOMENT!" She yelled. "Can't you see that you're already falling in to his trap!? This... farce he calls a game... He needs you all to distrust each other so that he gets his way. Distrust breeds suspicion and in this case that suspicion can and looks like it has led to murder already! I've seen heated arguments happen between FRIEND over GAMES before, letting him ramp up the tension now will just end up in his favor!"
She took a long series of deep breaths to calm herself down, before turning to at Monokuma and pointing at him. "And you. How can you call this a game!? This is just... provoked slaughter! It disgraces the very idea of a game by you calling it that!"

“Upupupupupu...” Monokuma laughed a bit as more of the students reacted to his entrance and the video he played to prove his point. Still ignoring the Raiden in his face, he motioned over to one of the other buildings. “That's the The Habitation Building. You've all got your own rooms in there. The door unlocks with your electro ID. You all should have one. Just note that if you want to get all steamy in someone's room, I'll know. Upupupupupupupu.”
Then Yuukyoku finally burst. “Upupu... Upupupupupu... I was wondering when the cork of that bottle would finally pop!” He held his arms up. “Ya got me! Distrust is a great motivator for murder, but what are you gonna do about it? Ask everyone to hold hands and be friends? Sing a little Kumbaya and hope everyone just waits until they die? Get on everyone's good side trying to point out that distrusting each other is bad so you can get past their defenses to do the dirty deed yourself? Which is it? Upupupupupupu.”
Suddenly Monokuma fell to the ground and rolled away from Raiden, getting behind him and moving to the center of the black disc-like part of the floor before jumping back up. “I don't care if you vote a leader in or not. I'm Space Captain around here and that's all that matters. Like it or not, this is a Game and you're the Players. Trust me, at the end if it's one that gets away with murder or the 5 that survive until the end, you'll have a sense of relief. Catharsis...”
“...Perhaps even a bit of enjoyment...”
“That you got to the end and made it. The feeling of Victory in the face of Overwhelming Odds. Now if that doesn't sound like a game, then, well: What is...?”
Turning to Raiden he finally acknowledged him. “Now you're dismissed.” And with that, the center of the disc opened up and Monokuma disappeared into it.

Jack saw the screen of people from hopes peak academy killing each and was shocked by it. He wanted to scream but he knew he had to put on a act to not let this bear get to him or any other person. He wanted to say something to the bear but before he could think of anything the bear disappeared. Jack did not want to believe a person this evil would exist and make people kill each other for his own pleasure but the evidence was right in front of him and there was no denying what was shown. Jack thought for a moment on what to say after that and thought of something to say to the group.
"People I implore you to not believe anything this bear has said. A person who gets pleasure out of people killing each other would in know way release the people who would survive all this. No he would be the type to keep people here till we all die. I will not stand for a evil such as this to exist not with justice on our side. I will find a way to stop him and free us from this situation. I have thought of attacking him but considering he was able to knock us all out it seems like this bear could have tricks up his sleeve that would prevent a frontal attack plus we don't even know anything about this place to just kill this bear without him telling us anything about this place. I will first learn of this bear first and then when I have learned of what I can I will develop a plan to stop this bear in his tracks and force him to talk and tell us how to get out of here. I implore that we gather our justice and help me find out about this bear and find a way to get him to talk of a way out of here. If we can just help each other I know that justice will prevail in the end. Though I know that to do this we will need a leader but I do not know you enough to know how well you are leading so I think our first step is get to know each more before we decide a leader."

Daniel nodded at what Hibiki had to say.
"Hibiki's right, you know.", he plainly stated. "We all just got up a few minutes ago, were told to go kill one another and now we're supposed to appoint a leader? All of you know how people are like. The very idea that we all get out of here alive is utopian thinking at best, and delusional at worst.", he continued.
Still not being done, he spoke some more. "At the risk of sounding like a parrot, there's no reason why we can trust one another. Someone is bound to stab someone else in the back. Either metaphorically or literally, you know?"
He sighed as he began to move away from the group, moving closer to the Habitation Building step by small step, ignoring everything Jack had said.
"I'll be checking out my room. See what kinda place we'll be spending our time at."
With his hands still in his pockets, he moved out of sight. He wouldn't be bothered if someone came to visit him, but being left alone would suit him just fine as well.

Kairu could only watch with horror filled eyes as Monokuma showcased the video of Hope Peak Students committing the taboo that is murder, the despair in the victims facial expressions was enough to make him feel momentarily how they did. But now this horrific situation was expected of him and this group he is with, to kill one another and lie to the rest and then walk away with such sin’s burdened onto their hearts. Once again the question ‘why' came into place. What does the bear gain from this? Is it some kind of fetish? Is there an end goal? Or is it really just a mindless game? “That bear is just trying to mess with us or something! For all we know that video could have been edited! SHOP-PHOTO’D OR SOMETHING!” He states aloud, more so to convince himself more than anyone else.
The Student known as Zelda had brought up an interesting point about requiring a leader. A leader that knows what they’re doing can drive a team to success, it could be the key in thwarting the bears plan and escaping this intergalactic hell hole. However what if someone falls for his trap and begun the ‘killing game?’ This played in Kairu’s mind, how can everyone follow someone and be trusted to work together when everyone is more concerned with potentially getting stabbed in the back? Both sides that were ‘For’ and ‘Against’ having a leader had valid points. He scratched his chin to gather his thoughts.
“Can’t we just have a vote or something?” Kairu says to get his mind on the matter. “No matter how you look at it, if escaping is what we want, some unity will be required! So leader or not we can’t be at each other’s throats. THAT IS WHAT ‘HE’ WANTS AFTER ALL! We can’t bicker, so either be friends or at least acquaintances!” he continues, feeling more breathless and nervous with each word said. “There are discoveries to be made and many secrets buried in this situation for us to dig up, I’ll work with whoever because I intend to get out of here with all of you!”
With that said, Kairu sits back down sighing, he wasn’t too fuzzed if anyone listens to him or not, as long as he gets his opinion out there, that is what is important. The mental exhaustion of everything was just about taking its toll anyway. He opens his notepad again and starts writing down as much information he can. “I guess my school journal has become my survival journal” he softly murmurs to himself followed by an empty chuckle.

[googlefont="Boogaloo"][googlefont="Great Vibes"] PERFECTION IS THE CHILD OF TIME and i will be that child | He was right up face to face with the bear and yet, the poor excuse for a child's play toy ignored him. Ignored him! What the hell was up with this bear? Raiden's plan was to stay up in the bear's face until the bear acknowledged him, but then the footage from somewhere about the other games. Raiden's face paled slightly but he composed himself. He instead looked away from the footage to gauge the other's reactions. Zelda look completely and totally terrified, and slightly emotionally unstable. Lindsay seemed pretty chill about it. There were some who were reacting with fear, and others hiding the fear, and some didn't seem to actually care about it. Honestly he didn't care about the past, for they were not those right here around him, they weren't the same, and they didn't have him. Those others suffered because there wasn't someone who would help guide them towards perfection. He would guide them towards perfection enough to escape this place and not have anyone get killed.
He looked slightly frustrated and angry, still fuming over the bear ignoring him. The fact that the medium thought that she was fit for being the leader of this ragtag group? Ha. He wouldn't bow down to any leader. He was far above everyone else here. He was the closet to perfection. He'd spent years and years training and honing his skills on and off the court. He was fast, he was strong, he was intelligent, he was quick on his feet. He was in peak physical condition, and he was far and above everyone else here when it came to emotional stability. Why wouldn't anyone think to nominate him? No, they were all just so imperfect that they couldn't fathom just how close he was to perfection.
Hibiki, though extremely far from being perfect, brought up a good point. It happened every once and awhile that someone so far could hit a good point. It was rare, but possible. Raiden flashed a smile on his face after she spoke, though it last just a split second. It was just moments later that Emile and Naoya had spoken up. Hmph. They were right, but he was right as well. They did need some sort of structure, and yet no one was pointing to him yet. What was wrong with these people? It was so terribly frustrating to have people around him who didn't see the intelligence brimming behind his eyes, or the perfect way he held himself and talked. They didn't understand. They were all so -
Raiden hushed himself not allowing himself to continue down that thought pattern. Such negative thoughts would lead to emotional decisions, emotional words, and emotions that weren't carefully felt weren't perfect, until he perfect his emotions of course, then he wouldn’t have to think about them so much. If he lost control all he would do was injure himself. He couldn't allow that to happen. He couldn't lose control and hurt himself or the others around him. He had to remain perfectly in control of his emotions.
The battle in his consciousness was a constant fight. His thoughts against his own thoughts. Perfection vs imperfect. Perfection would win, and he knew it, imperfection was all talk. He had to believe that or imperfection could take control.
"Imperfection breeds imperfection. A true leader is not one who is elected, chosen by people who don't even know each other. A leader simply steps up and fulfills the role needed." He had to explain to these people just how stupid Zelda's idea of nominating herself as leader was. "No amount of discussion here will help any. No matter what this bear shows us, it doesn't matter. We aren't those people. We're different. We have a different level of perfection. And if we as a group are lowered by the imperfection of others, I will change them whether they want to be changed or not."
"However, we can't just elect a leader. Who knows who could be a liar? If you want to know the truth, I lied about who I was, and yet so few of you seemed to notice. You just trusted me without a second thought. My true name is Raiden Yagami, SHSL Basketball Player. It goes to show that anyone could lie about who they really are."
And yet no matter how much he wanted to say all of that, he couldn't. He didn't know if it was right. So many people were saying things similar, to hold up hope or whatever, and it just painted a target on his back if he spoke up. Even if it was to help these people try to stay hopeful. No, he was afraid, completely frozen by the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, and the fear of death. He couldn't say any of that. Instead he chose a shorter and more concise route.
"Shut up." Raiden spoke softly before looking around. "A true leader is not one who is elected, chosen by people who don't even know each other." Raiden clenched his fist and looked down at the ground. "Anyone could have brought us here. Anyone could be the person behind that bear," Then he looked up at the group not eyeing any in particular. "Whoever is behind this, I speak directly to you now: you've messed with the wrong person. You can't beat me. I've never lost. And I won't start losing now." No matter what response he was going to receive he started walking out, arms crossed, pushing up his glasses one last time with a frown shining darkly on his face. This whole situation was messed up, and it would really test his perfection. But it would also force more perfection onto himself. However, the others would have a harder time being manipulated into thinking as he believed they should.
"Raiden Yagami. That's my real name," He called this as he left, and raised a hand with a slight wave before lowering it. "SHSL Basketball Player."

Post by Lindsay Hiiragi on Jun 22, 2016 5:10:16 GMT
Zelda was a really interesting person it seemed. She wanted to be the leader? Well she was cute and seemed to be the free spirited type...Lindsay couldn't help but wonder if she was the type to avoid wearing panties. I mean that was the hippie thing to do right? Lindsay had only really met two other people that were into the "spiritual" or "occult" world or whatever and both of them were really different from Zelda. One was pretty kind, if a bit of the standoffish type and one was...a complete jerk. Really pretty but a jerk nevertheless. Lindsay would definitely have to talk to her...and maybe see if the whole "going commando" thing was true in her case. For uh...sociological reasons. Yeah. That was a good excuse.
Monokuma was saying more things to try and get them to kill each other. She was taking note of it all but honestly she didn't want to give too much of a reaction. All of this was subject to change when the bear found it convenient. He was basically a dictator, though the cutest one she ever saw (and no, not like that perverts, not even she wanted to have sex with a robotic teddy bear) He was going to do whatever got his rocks off at that particular moment. Which made Lindsay begin to think about who could be behind this. It would have to be an organization that was rich and powerful...but she didn't have much to go off of yet. A more thorough investigation was needed.
The busty green haired girl was so...assertive. This girl didn't want to be lead huh? She wondered what that said about her specifically....Lindsay was a bit of a masochist at heart. Not as much as a certain literary star she had "interviewed" if you can even call what brief conversation they had an interview, but still a masochist. Meanwhile Hibiki had "sadist" written over her head in flashing red letters like an MMO mob that was too strong for her level. The reporter could definitely work with that. Even if she wasn't into ladies Lindsay could probably get her wrapped enough around her finger to use her as a bodyguard.
Daniel meanwhile seemed so nonchalant about this whole thing. Everybody else seemed to be taking it seriously. Some a little too seriously for something they should just be coming to grips with. He however didn't seem to care much. Which did kind of fit with his title. The fact that he seemed so boring, barring his good looks, kind of fascinated Lindsay. How did he wind up at HPA? Lindsay hadn't heard a thing about him before. She would have to see if she could have a chat with him.
Some other people made some pretty valid points but Lindsay couldn't help but be surprised by Raiden outing himself. Nobody else seemed to much notice that Raiden was lying. Some people seemed a bit suspicious but nobody had even made motions to confront him over it. If his identity was supposed to be used as a shield why drop it so easily. Was it some kind of test? The basketball player was a puzzle that Lindsay would very much like to solve at some point. He obviously was already playing this game, even before he knew it was a game. Which was proof of either some duplicity or extreme intuition/caution. Regardless he was intelligent in addition to his talent, which was a dangerous combination. Now was the time to cover her rear before someone stuck a knife in.
"Raiden Yagami huh...? Oh well. I guess I got you mixed up with someone else. I've never been a huge sports person and I do meet so many people I often get names mixed up. Silly me." Lindsay said, sticking her tongue out and tapping herself on the head. The cutesy, ditz act turned up a bit. She was very good at playing this role so hopefully the others would buy it. After all, who didn't like cute girls?
"I agree with a lot of the others. Appointing a leader, while a smart move at some point, seems premature dontcha think? And we definitely shouldn't listen to what Monokuma says. If he wants us to kill each other there is no benefit to killing us all. It goes against the entire spirit of his twisted game." Lindsay added, dialing a bit more into her professional voice, while still leaving herself cutesy enough that most wouldn't be suspicious by the sudden contrast. She had refined this art to a practical sense. Being taken seriously only when she wanted to. Hopefully this would serve her as well here as it had everywhere else. She had no reason to believe otherwise yet at least.

“While I know that it may be hard to trust others in a situation like this, & it may be hard to appoint a leader, I still believe it would be a good choice to at least try to build up some trust between us.” He looked at everybody who was still present. “The bear even confirmed that its goal was to make us doubt each other to start the killing.”
He looked up at the starts. “Wouldn’t it be much better if we could at least try to build up our trust to prevent the same outcome as the one in those videos?”
“Well, either way, I can’t choose for you, so I trust in you people to make the right choice, which ever one it might be. I’ll be taking my leave now, it was nice meeting you all.” After saying this he began leaving, slowly making his way to the habitation room. Right before leaving the room he turned around, looking through the ones still there. “Try to get along a bit better, okay? Making people actively dislike you isn’t the best choice you could make in a situation like this, atleast I don't think it is.” He shrugged while saying this. He then left, walking backwards out of the room, still looking through the crowd.

Well. People aren't getting along at all. "I guess my comment didn't help with that at all," Iris thought to herself. A group of teenagers on hormones weren't going to do anything amazing anyways. Iris clutched her bag once again before deciding on what to do exactly. If everyone was suspicious of others, maybe going solo would be okay. But it was dangerous alone as well. As Iris thought to herself, a few people already left on their own accord. It was getting more and more tempting to go off on her own, but she was still too nervous and anxious to call any shots. Then a thought occurred to her that since they were locked in here they had no choice in the end. With a deep breath, she began to speak.
"Well, uh, sorry about that earlier. But I think we should at least group up instead of going off solo. A leader can be decided on later since that shouldn't be our number one priority."
So far so good.
"How about the rest of figure something while investigating together? The ones that left first can join us later if they wish. We should all try to help each other."
Ugh. The idea was noble, but there's no way to tell if the rest would agree. Hopefully they will.
Hopefully.

Naoya Akamura If only our hopes could have twinkled like the stars over our heads. - 347 Words - | As Monokuma made it's exit, Naoya's eyes stayed locked on it. That game designer certainly spoke the truth. This whole thing seemed to be a farce.. yet the moment the bear made it clear what the rules of this station were, their lives were on the line. After that abomination disappeared into the floor, a silence permeated the room for a moment before everyone started talking again. He stood there, his arms crossed, as each of them took their sides on the issue. Some thinking unity was doomed. Some simply wanting cooperation. And some wanting to lead, themselves.
His head perked to "Root", or as he now introduced himself, Raiden Yagami. With a small nod, he finally broke his silence again.
"I don't know why you lied before, but thank you for revealing the truth. That will surely be a step forward for us as a whole." After letting the others discuss for a few minutes, he spoke again. "I agree with Kairu and Iris on this. Even if we don't agree on a leader, we should still try to reach some sort of agreement, and cooperate on investigating this place." Out of habit, he brought up his hand and brushed some of his dark blue hair from his eyes.
"We all have a common enemy. Whoever is behind that Monokuma thing might be smart.. They might know just the right tricks to manipulate us into making mistakes.." He paused, looking back out the window once again. "But they aren't perfect. If they've slipped up somewhere, we'll find it.. provided we work together and don't succumb to his tricks."
Even if they were in the minority, they could probably achieve greatness working together. That's what he was fighting to believe in that moment.
At the same time, he also knew one thing. Hibiki.. He might have to keep an eye on her. She seemed to treat this like the game Monokuma was saying it was. She could actually end up acting dangerously later on.
Preventing a death among them was truly his first priority at that moment.

Apollo's eye's widened when the one who previously revealed himself as "Alexander Root" had told everyone that name was a lie, and that his true name was "Raiden Yagami." Apollo shook his head in a mix of both pity and disappointment.
"That is perhaps the single most idiotic thing you could have done. Not only have you lied to us already, but then you reveal your lie shortly after. If you're willing to lie about your own name, your very own identity, how are we going to be able to trust you in the future?"
Apollo readjusted himself, standing up straight again and centering his coronet, and started walking towards the door.
"You all can stay here and keep this discussion going, but I'm going to look around. By myself. I don't trust any of you yet, any one of you can be plotting the demise of everyone else right now. So I advise you to stay cautious around each other, just as I will."
And with those parting words, Apollo walked away towards the habitation building,

I'd rather trust and regret than doubt and regret The detective had zoned out, lost in a faraway thought. After catching himself on his unawareness he went to open his mouth to ask Monokuma a question. But upon closer inspection he noticed that in his unawareness the monochromatic bear had seemingly vanished.
"Tsh." He turned his head away and shoved his hands into the pockets of his coat and titled his head slightly as he felt a foreign object in his pocket. After pulling it out he deduced it must be the electro ID the bear mentioned.
He headed for the exit. "If anyone needs me I'll be somewhere. And if you want to kill me..." He paused and looked over his shoulder "you're not the first" And with those parting words he exited the room. And wandered in a direction.
