Ahh, the Library. A home. A sanctuary, for Paris. A party zone, for everyone else. But could they be blamed? Indeed, it was much more elaborate than what the Librarian was accustomed to back home. With two floors, a built in coffee shop, and bookshelves that climbed to the top of the tall ceiling, it was almost like heaven on earth. Sure, they would have to quell the rowdy students at times, but it was worth it. Besides, this was a good place to make friends.
That guy, Ryuu—a real sweet person, always checking out books on theories or something. Paris would hesitantly admit they had taken a liking to the Strategist, but hey, their relationship was perfect already: Hello, ooh nice book, and goodbye. And there were others, too. Like Alito!
He always stopped by to visit the Librarian, sometimes reorganizing the books for her. And did it really matter if a few novels went missing here and there? Well, it did. But Paris was willing to look the other way for her best friend. A confidant is a confidant is a confidant. Did Freud say that? Probably not, but it sounded cool.
Today was a special day, though—they'd found the idea online. A Coffeeshop Soundtrack, like they used to have in the 80's. The Librarian had already reorganized the room, making a small stage for any students who wanted to perform while the others talked. It was going to be nice—and it would bring everyone together, on this unholy week called FINALS. Now, many of their friends were seated, and everything was in place. Paris took their seat next to Alito, and looked around.
“Er...I probably should have asked earlier. Does anyone have any other talents? Otherwise...y-you guys can think of something we can do.” They looked away at their feet, biting their lip. Perhaps this had been a bad idea.

kagetane, souta open 490 words Final exams.
It seemed no matter where you go or what country you're in, finals are the norm. Even Japan's most illustrious high school had it. The only difference is the mentors are actual scientists instead of your average school teacher. Great. If only someone could remind Souta what's so special about being a glorified high school student, then maybe he wouldn't feel he wasted time here.
Because so far, it had been a tremendous waste of his so-called talent.
Seriously. Who in the right mind decided that he was perfect for this... daycare? Everyone he briefly met were practically snot-nosed brats. They wouldn't know how to stand up for themselves even if they were faced off with Super Elementary Schooler Levelbabies. It was pretty lame.
But, it wasn't all that bad. Apparently, his fearless baby-faced leader attended Hope's Peak along with some other lackey, but that did not mean they were on the same ground. It was stupid to approach them. It was.. improper.
He had to escape for a bit. His sensei was getting on his nerves, treating him like he's a kid like all the rest. Obviously, he didn't know who he was talking to.
Just give him one minute alone. He'll teach him to what happens when you patronize the Big Brother.
The hall was pretty desolate. Everyone scurried off to their classes or whatever seemed important to them. For Souta, he could care less. He just needs a place to relax. The bathroom was the first place he thought about, but he wouldn't like to be cooped up in a stall for long. He needed a big open place that's naturally quiet and...
The Big Brother grinned. Right, the library. What an obvious choice.
He quickened his pace.
It wasn't long until he reached library. The place was rather easy to find, easier than the bathhouse. Yet, as he pushed through the entrance, what he expected to be complete void of life was sprawling with more babies. What the actual f-- was that a stage? He blinked, somewhat annoyed to find the library was occupied with some weird gathering. Perfect. What does a guy gotta do to have some peace and quiet around here? He was about to leave until he heard footsteps echoing down the corridor and growing louder by the second.
He knew who those stomps belonged to and he wasn't in any mood to butt heads with them. So, he quickly slipped into the library, and slumped down into the seat behind some dorky kid with a goofy looking friend beside him. Or her. Whatever.
The Super High School Level Big Brother got too comfortable in his seat, slouching back as he flipped on his shades. He heard the dork gabbing on about other talent. Like hell he would participate in this side-show attraction. Let these fools embarrass themselves.

Unlike the majority of attendees, Hazuki had a semi-selfish reason for being present at the library: to make money. An associate of hers had recently offered a generous amount of cash in exchange for some pictures, and with this particular coffee shop meeting being so well-timed, her photographer had insisted on bringing her to the event. The girl could only assume their location was to be used to represent some form artistic symbolism she couldn't care less about, but the architecture was reasonably complementary so she at least understood that factor. The pair had arrived early and planned to stay late, albeit with an outfit-changing intermission to be held as soon as the crowd began to show any signs of thinning-out -- something that wouldn't be happening until after a good few hours had passed, judging by the current levels of activity. Some warm-up shots had already been taken outside, so now it was time for the main setting to be utilised... Shadowing her photographer, Hazuki made her way towards Paris Eins, SHSL Librarian and presumably one of the organisers. Her acquaintance wanted to thank him(?) to avoid any "potential future complications", and whilst she wasn't fond of introductions, Hazuki didn't object as she waited by the brunet's elbow.

Finals.
Now, they weren't a problem for the Ultimate Procrastinator. After all, why work hard when you can just scribble something that fits the topic and still pass? Nevertheless, there were still people who tended to panic like a headless chicken. Daniel was there to remind them that everything was going to be fine.
The boy with the glasses thought it'd be good to pretend to study in the library, even though he knew that he actually never studied in the library and instead goofed off and wasted time.
When he entered, the library looked different than usual, with a stage for others to perform on. It was obvious that Daniel wouldn't perform anything on that stage, and instead preferred people with actual talents to do it.
He even saw his little sister there! She was currently busy with something, so he decided not to butt in. Instead, he sat down on a chair as far away from everyone as he could. Now there was no one next to him, and the Procrastinator could easily relax, even if he should plant his face in his school books.
"Well, let's see what this is going to be about. I'm looking forward to it."

A lot of people had shown up for this, which was kinda surprising. Though, some were probably here because of ransom notes he'd left for some of the more... uncooperative people. Even then, some were showing up that didn't quite seem the type, but hadn't been coerced, either. The jerkish-looking guy who plopped himself behind Paris seemed extremely out of place. Eh, whatever. He'd already told Paris that the only talent he had would be making people's valuables disappear, and she'd advised heavily against that, so he was more of a spectator here. Hopefully someone else would put on a decent show.

Wow, there were more people here than Lucca thought there would be. People began to fill the seats and fill the empty spaces to watch the show, though most of them probably came to study for finals. Ugh, Finals. The time when most students experience their fair share of mental breakdowns, and unfortunately, Lucca was no exception. He wasn't his usual self during finals, instead of being happy and kind, he was just a nervous wreck. But not because of the tests, no, he couldn't care less about that. What made him feel this way, was the fact that everyone felt unusually down during this time of year. He hated how most people felt nervous and scared. Seeing people feel down, just made himself feel down as well. When Lucca heard of this "Talent Show" of sorts, he jumped at the chance to participate. He would do anything to take people's minds off of the finals, even if just for a little bit.
Lucca sat behind the makeshift stage, trying to keep cool. He wasn't nervous of being on stage, he was used to that, but he just wanted to make everyone feel better about finals. He decided to do some vocal warm ups before he had to perform, he was going to sing a song. Lucca had had to take many vocal lessons in his life, since he had to perform in many musicals. He was always shy about singing when it wasn't for a show, but he felt this time he could use his singing to help everyone else.
Now all he had to do was wait for his turn to perform.

Paris jumped as the tall boy slipped into the chair beside them, and looked at him with a nervous smile. “A-ah, hello! Welcome to the library, Kagetane-san. Er, that...is your name, right?” Shit, was that stalker-y? The teenager instinctively moved to grip the Pickpocket's hand in theirs. Good dog, best friend, they thought to themself. It wasn't the Librarian's fault if an excellent memory was the result of Hope's Peak's vast selection of novella. The guy had come in once or twice before, and after some prompting he'd probably dropped his name. He wasn't the friendliest, but hey—Paris wasn't exactly in the mood for conversation half the time. ...And as the saying goes, “one goes, the rest follow.”The Library had begun to fill up in the few minutes in a feat of divine timing, as they put it, and they even had people coming up to them. One of which happened to be a small, fragile looking girl and her...photographer?“ Saotome-san! Your brother has mentione— ah, one sec—Daniel! Oh, he's sleeping again...er, maybe you can wake him up for me. What is it you need? Are you here to take photos for the event?” They gave an excited grin until, from the corner of their eye, Lucca had made his way behind the stage without a single hello. Rude!!“Ahh, forgive me Saotome...a-ah, Saotome-san! Sorry...g-go wake up your brother, I'll be back in one second.” And just like that, the hooded (hoodied?) hero made their way to the back of the stage. Of course the Actor would be here, but... “Lucca...um...” The Librarian raised an eye at the boy, as he undulated strangely and attracted the attention of a few other students. They put a hand over his mouth gently, and laughed quietly. “You're g-going to get flies like that. Besides, I believe someone may call the police if you keep doing those...exercises? H-hehe! Anyway...” They leaned up on their toes, kissing the boy on the cheek and patting him on the back. “C-consider that good luck, Actor. And...try not to make those noises on stage?”

i beg for you to tell me “please don't cry” Finnian normally didn’t do things like this. Normally he would be sleeping around this time. He didn’t care about finals, he slept through classes most of the time, and he was failing most of his classes. But it wasn’t like he cared. All he cared about was the sky, outer space. So why was he here? Oh right, yesterday he screwed up and slept through the night, and he missed out on a whole night of observing the sky. He could see things that others could not without the help of a telescope, and then, he could see things with a telescope no one else could, and he was able to come up with scientifically explanations, and if there was something to conflict his theory he could come up with something right off the bat. His sleeping schedule was screwed up. He was awake in his classes today, and he wasn’t tired. He was worried that he would miss another night. At least he would have to stay up until midnight anyways, because he had a specialty class based on his talent during that time, and it was the only class he actually was awake during. Finnian assured himself that if he just managed to stay up all night, he could get some sleep during the day and it wouldn’t be a big deal. But he didn’t have anything to do. Other than changing classes, he was asleep almost all the time, so when he heard of this study thing in the library with some sort of performance, Finnian decided that if he couldn’t be looking at the stars (the thing he hated most about the daytime), he would at least try something like this. Finnian slowly walked in and almost immediately turned around out of fear. The best part about sleeping most of the day was the fact that he didn’t have to deal with people. He didn’t know how to interact with people. And so, there Finnian was, at the entrance to the library, staring in like he was some sort of scared cat who was about to get a bath. [ WORDS353 | NOTES thought I might get Finnian in somewhere]

Souta was comfortable. Not too comfortable, but just enough to sink right into the crowd. No one would suspect him to be here, especially that one girl. She's just so damn annoying, butting into everyone's business or lecturing them. The girl almost made prison sound like a paradise; a refuge away from her.
Then again, there were quite a bit of nosier people like her... like that-
“A-ah, hello! Welcome to the library, Kagetane-san. Er, that...is your name, right?”
Eh? Kagetane-san? Oh, right. His name. The snowy-haired guy blinked several times, sliding his sunglasses further down his nose just to peek at whoever spoke directly to-
Oh. The nerdy person. Who was she... he... they again? He perused his thoughts, trying to recall a moment they've met, but the kid in glasses wore an outfit that just screamed dork alert. They look like a librarian in training who might end up growing old and heckling people for a simple cough. Or someone who had a lot of cats. Sheesh. Hope it isn't the cats. That's just terrible and sad.
So, as quickly as he pulled down his shades, Souta pushed them back up to his eyes.
"Yea, that's my name." Yes. That was the best execution of genuine coolness right there. The delivery was just perfect with a monotone voice. Hell, is acting this easy? Wait- why was he thinking like this? Oh, right. He was bored. The library was and always will be a snooze-fest. He can't even remember the last time he ever enjoyed a book. Well, actually he can, but that was in another life long gone.
Suddenly, the library door opened and standing beneath that very door frame was some kid, so pale he could actually see him.. her? Whatever, through his dark sunglasses... unless he was American or something. Westerners usually stuck out like that so it was pretty commonplace. Still, why did he look scared? Was he about to piss himself or something? Has he never seen a talent show in his entire life... or was he participating for the very first time? Should he care to ask? ...
Nope.
"Hey, kid. Shut that door and sit down. You're standing in the way for other people to come in." Souta groaned, staring down the blonde kid.
Babies. Just like he thought.

Daniel opened his eyes when he heard Paris' voice. Did they think the Procrastinator was going to sleep through the talent show? Now that would be incredibly rude. He wasn't going to sleep at all!
He was just... relaxing for a bit. "Looks like Lucca's not quite ready yet, is he? I could've sworn I saw him hopping behind the stage. His stuff should be good, considering he actually has a talent, unlike me."
It was heaven for Daniel to be left alone for so long. No one to bother him, no one to freak him out. Just pure anticipation for which events were going to transpire on the stage.
"Come on, Lucca.", he thought. "I'm rooting for you! Please don't let us down."
He could only hope Hazuki didn't come to 'wake him up'. She still looked very busy to him at the current moment.

Of course he was here. Whilst neither Hazuki nor her assistant showed any sign of objection, that didn't mean the model wanted to rouse Daniel Saotome -- she was a doll, not an android, and having a sibling who was a 'professional' and globally-recognised procrastinator wasn't something to be proud of. Only the tight-lipped smile and patronising shooing motion from her photographer got her moving, taking careful steps towards the older boy until she was within a one foot radius of him; there she stopped and stared down at the back of his head. "Onii-san," she said coldly.

Well, Daniel's worst fear became reality. Not much 'worst fear', but rather 'mild annoyance'. Hazuki did come to 'wake him up'.
"I'm awake, I'm awake.", he said. He then turned around to face his little sister, wondering if he should come up with something sarcastic to say or not. There really was no reason for Paris to inform her! He just wanted to check out the talent show and then be done with it.
He shook his head in frustration. "Now that you woke me up, you can go back to your photo shoot."
The procrastinator felt the urge to ruffle his little sister's hair. Even if they were at edge at each other sometimes, he still loved her as much as an older brother could love a little sister.
"I'm rooting for you, Hazuki.", he smiled at his sister.
