Lucca sat alone on the deck, his face buried in his arms. He had searched the whole ship, but there was no way out.. They really were trapped on this thing, with no food, or hope anywhere in sight. He sat, trying to collect his thoughts. It was so weird, earlier that day, he was eagerly walking into Hope's Peak, but now he's trapped here on this floating death trap with a bunch of strangers. He looked up at the sky, the color had changed. Earlier it was a bright blue, but now it was a light orange. Sunset. He couldn't believe they were there for that long already.
The actor had heard a growl, his stomach. No...This can't be happening yet, he couldn't be hungry yet. In this situation, hunger could bring deadly consequences. Lucca's grip on his arm had tightened, so tight he could feel his nails digging into his arm. He was angry, not at any person in particular, except maybe that Monochrome panda shit, but more angry at this situation. Lucca didn't do anything to deserve this...unless its because of...No! There's no way its because of that incident. That was in the past, and Lucca had no intention of digging up that horrible memory.
Lucca had an urge, and urge to scream. Scream so that his frustration to go away. He felt his anger ball up in his chest, and move up to hit mouth as a scream erupted from him. "Why!? Why am I here!? I just wanted to live peacefully for once in my life! But noooo I have to be here on this floating piece of shit, in constant fear I might die!"

Paris walked peacefully across the deck, their hands folded into the front pocket of their sweatshirt. Things were going to be okay somehow, right? If there was a bright side, it was the lack of technology. Besides Mr. Ursine Bitchicus, the Librarian thought crudely. But the lack of potential dangers was reassuring. No computers to spy on anyone. No PDAs...the Personal Devil's Assistant, as Paris called it. They were surely just...information highways for the government to keep tabs on the world. But not today.
Of course Paris was worried, too. It was fine to look on the bright side and try not to think of the whole starving ordeal, but being lost at sea certainly brought fear of its own. The breadcrumbs back to Hope's Peak had been since washed away, and now they were at the mercy of a swashbuckling machine. The sad, and even worse, the hungry glances of the other students weren't much in the way of reassurance. But for now, they just had to show Monokuma that this weird little game wasn't going to work. What was this, a Connell novel?
The screams from the other side of the deck sent adrenaline spiraling into Paris' veins like a coin sink, going round and round in circles until it came to a head, and suddenly the small teenager was sprinting automatically toward the noise. A murder couldn't have already happened...Please, don't let it be true. What the Librarian found instead was a very distraught boy, snapping under the pressure.
“A-ah...you must...I'm sorry...I d-don't know why we're here either, but...I won't hurt you.”
Please don't hurt me. Please just let me make a friend in this god forsaken place. These thoughts ran through their head, and Paris looked at their companion. “You...you must be...?”

Lucca was taken by surprise as he heard a soft voice, seemingly aimed right at him. He looked down from the sky and saw a small teen walking towards him. They looked a little frightened, presumably by Lucca's loud-ass screams. He got got up slowly and brushed the dirt of of his jeans. He wanted to make sure that he didn't frighten the teen talking to him. "O-Oh I'm sorry if I had frightened you, I really wasn't trying to scare anyone. I'm actually pretty scared myself..." Lucca frowned, saddened at the thought of him maybe frightening someone. "Great going Lucca one of the few people you've talked to and you're scaring them off."
"Oh silly me, let me introduce myself." Lucca cleared his throat, so he could be heard clearly. "My name is Lucca Bello, the SHSL Actor." Lucca let out a proud smile, showing he was happy, despite everything that was going on. "Umm, if you don't mind me asking, what's your name?"

Paris' shoulders slumped and their expression softened as Lucca seemed to regain his sensibility. Maybe...things wouldn't be so bad after all. The Actor was friendly even now, so who could say the situation was deteriorating?
“A-ah, I'm La—Paris,” The Librarian cleared their throat, looking to the ground. “Paris Eins. I-I'm the SHSL Librarian...and it's a pleasure to m-meet you.” With introductions out of the way and the fear of danger neutralized, they struggled to find something to continue the conversation with.
“E-er...well, you're an actor. You probably know nothing of literature, all too common in this day and age. I'll never know why they invented the TV, the evil media's association of liars...” A pause, and the Librarian shook their head. “I'm sorry. What I meant to ask was...have you...heard of Shakespeare?”
Smooth, Eins. Smooth.

Lucca smiled a bit, happy to have met someone new, someone who seemed like a friend. "Well Paris, its very nice to meet you!" Lucca extended out his hand, ready for a handshake. "So you're a librarian, that's a really cool talent, much cooler than being the "SHSL Actor". It must be cool to be around books a lot, I wish I had more time to read myself actually."
Lucca was feeling more laid back now that he was with someone else, but then Paris mentioned Shakespeare. Paris was about to set off a bomb that no one wanted to explode. "Do I know...Shakespeare? Are you really asking me that?" Run Paris, run far away. "Of course I know Shakespeare! He's my favorite playwright of all time! I've read all of his stories! They are all so beautifully written, a perfect mix of comedy and tragedy! Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night Dream! They are all just so amazing!"
The actor looked back at Paris, after he calmed down. He coughed a bit and began to speak again. "...Yes. Yes I have heard of Shakespeare."

Paris took the boy's hand nervously, biting their lip tightly. This was weird, it was weird, it was weird, and that's all the Librarian could think. Over and over. Friendship was weird. And the eventual ego boost did help a bit, coming from someone as talented as...a stage actor, they presumed? Maybe Lucca wasn't bad at all. And then...the rant about Shakespeare began. Once Lucca had finished, the words finally came:
“Er...Shakespeare is a tad drab and overdone, but his work seems...lovely.” they said through gritted teeth, offering a small smile. Shakespeare was more than a tad overdone. More like burnt-beyond-recognition-throw-in-the-trash. Medium well. “B-but it's very i-impressive you know of him! More than most in this day and age, so uneducated the masses may be...ahem.” Paris stopped a rant of their own prematurely. “You like comedy and tragedy, huh...? I could recommend a few novels to you, if you wish. There's this one I started reading before all this mess, where a bunch of teenagers are locked into a school and forced to...well, I forget the rest. Maybe I'll find the title sometime while we're here, if they have a library. With this godforsaken place, you never know...”
“Ah...Lucca, I do e-enjoy discussing literature with you. You're one of the few who understands it, I th-think. When we're pulled off this death trap...we'll have to talk further. I don't have a cellphone though, mind you that's a government trick, but the old pen and paper would work well! Or a q-quill, if you'd like to pretend you're Shakespeare or whatever. In the meantime...have you found anything that might help speed up our departure from the Disney villain gone worse and his little game?”

Lucca felt the Librarian's small hand tremble as they gripped his hand. Lucca could see on Paris's face, that they were uncomfortable and Lucca took his hand away right after their handshake was over, feeling a little embarrassed.
"While I do agree that he is very overdone, and even overrated at times, his stories have a very special place in my heart. My family didn't have much when I was younger, so my mother's collection of Shakespeare's stories where the things that kept me entertained most of the time. Hahaha...that's probably a dumb reason, right?" Lucca looked down, looking not sad, but kind of embarrassed. Like a small child who is meeting a stranger for the first time, and said stranger is asking questions about them.
"Oh yeah, if there is a library somewhere on this place we could look for books together! I'd be great if you could show me some new stories!" The actor looked at Paris, eyes beaming with happiness. He was pretty excited at the fact of getting to read some new material, with the help of a new friend of course.
But this excited feeling went away when Paris brought up the investigation. Lucca let out a sad sigh and crossed his arms. "Sadly, no. I looked in every place I could think of, but there was no food or way out anywhere. That bear was serious about us starving if no one gets murdered. And that...that makes me sick. One of us here...could turn into a murderer soon. I just...hope. Hope that some miracle will happen and we get food, or get rescued."

Paris coughed as their cheeks started to redden, pulling their own hand back and shoving it into their pocket.
“T-that's not...a dumb reason at all! M-My parents...they...we traveled a lot, and I wasn't really allowed to make friends, so I r-read books. It's...not a dumb reason at all. I understand...” The Librarian smiled nervously as Lucca looked away, and they let out an airy laugh. It was hollow and metallic, but it was a laugh.
“I'd l-l...um, like. I'd like to s-show you some books sometime, yes. Maybe there's even some...Shakespeare prose you haven't seen before.” The thought excited Paris wildly. This was friend-making. It was weird and fun, awkward and exhilarating, and the only thing that brought them back down to Earth was what the Actor said next.
“You...you're right. I saw nothing either, from some of my inspections. Maybe it'll be like...Hannibal Lector, and we'll have to bring the H-Heroine to Lui...” Their voice trailed off, as the topic got darker. “Never mind, I-I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't...be so outlandish right now. But Lucca...we will get out of here. There are people coming, I-I just know it.” Somehow, it didn't sound as convincing as in their head. “And if we do begin to starve, I will...nevermind. Best we not swell on the dark foreboding clouds yet, but the silver sheen. Or s-something. Either way, we...no one else is going to die.”

Lucca felt genuinely happy for the first time here, he was making a friend in this terrible situation, and that gave him hope. Hope that they will somehow escape. "Not allowed to make friends!? That's terrible! I can't even imagine how that must have been! But, at least you had a ton of books to read, so it mustn't have been all bad." Lucca smiled when Paris began to laugh, he really did enjoy it when people were happy, it made him feel good inside.
Lucca felt a little uneasy when Paris mentioned Hannibal, just that name made him shutter. It was even worse when they were about to suggest taking the Heroine's dead body to...Luigi, was it? He was the butcher correct? Oh god, that's horrifying. But what they said next did make him feel a bit better. "Yeah, I really do hope that people come soon. And the way you say it with such...certainty, it really does make me feel a little bit better." Lucca giggled a bit, this was the most fun he was having on this death trap, and hopefully it wouldn't be the only fun he had here.
Lucca looked back up at the sky. It had gotten noticeably darker. Have they really been talking to each other for that long? The actor's stomach growled again, just like it did earlier. If he was going to not go crazy from hunger, he was going to have to preserve his energy as much as possible. He decided it was good to be getting to sleep early, even though he couldn't really tell what time it was. "Hey Paris, it looks like it's getting kinda late, I'm gonna turn in for the night. I'll see you around!" And with that Lucca walked off, happy he made a new friend.
