The Librarian was seated on the bed, a diary held tightly in their hands. No, this was wrong. Something didn't make sense. Every page was filled as it should have been, but the last page intact only briefly mentioned receiving the invitation letter. The rest of the pages had been torn out crudely, leaving stumps where the paper had once been. It had been enough of a scare, carrying the diary out of their room and forgetting it on some table, but retrieving it to find it had been ransacked? The thought paled the teenager. Who would do this? It had to have been some other student, pulling some mean prank...But still, the fear persisted. There was nothing they could gain from the pages.
The sound of a doorknob jiggling sent the Librarian jumping to their feet, petrified. No, they weren't about to have someone with the munchies kill them! This was not to become some obscure murder mystery, spiraling further and further into hell...they sat back down, choosing instead to ignore whoever was trying to find their way in.

Alito gave the doorknob another twist, just to make sure it was locked. Yup. That probably meant nobody was in there. Who locks their door when they're inside? He slid a small paperclip out of his pocket, found lying around on the floor somewhere, and bent it a bit, sliding it into the lock. "Let's crack this open, huh...?" He didn't have much experience picking locks, so it took a while, but after a few minutes of fiddling with it the doorknob turned quite easily. He swung the door open and stepped inside. "Let's see what-..." He froze in his tracks, seeing the quiet, nerdy-looking kid sitting on their bed with a book. Oops.

As the door swung open, the Librarian found her blood had slowly gotten colder and colder, until it became pure ice. Frozen. Alito stood in the doorway, looking just as frightened as they probably were. This was bad. Alito was the...Thief, wasn't he? Perhaps...perhaps he knew all of Paris' secrets. Maybe the diary hadn't been misplaced after all. Instantly, the fear turned to anger.
“What are you doing in here?!” they demanded, throwing the book at the Thief angrily. The multitude of pins sitting next to the door on a table did nothing to ease their fear. If those went missing...but if Alito knew who Paris was...or had been, the situation was about to deteriorate rapidly. Darkness swam before the Librarian's eyes, and when it cleared, Paris found themself on the floor.
“W...wha...?” The boy was still there. Still terrified. Does he think I'm dead or something? they grumbled internally, and slowly got back onto their feet. “Alito, I don't know if you're the one who took this--” they flashed the book in his face. “But you...you really need to leave.” They looked to their feet, holding back tears of mixed emotion. Had that been too harsh? Maybe, but this was life or death. What would make the SHSL Thief snap and take a life?

"..." Well, that had been a rather abrupt reaction. Something was kind of being shoved into his face, and the kid who had been sitting around on their bed was screaming about stealing something. "Listen, why would I take that book? It doesn't even look like a good read." He took it out of their hands and flipped to a random page. "... A date? Is this a diary? Boring." He shot a glance at the pin collection, and tossed the book rather un-gently behind him. "Why would I steal something like this? It's not worth a single cent."

Paris had to hold back a snarl.
“YES, it IS a diary! Give me that, please!”
They made a mad dash for the diary, seeing the page it had turned to on the floor. Ohhh no. No no no, that would be catastrophic. Snatching it up, they threw it into the bed. It opened to another very sensitive page. God damn it, Paris.
“Every book is priceless, Ali...ahem! Alito, s-sorry. Every book is priceless, even if the writer might seem worthless to you...” They started to shake, to their chagrin, and firey tears barely contained themselves in their eyes. “It is worth more than you know, hooligan.” They smiled sadly, and followed his gaze to the pins.
“Those—are also priceless. To me. Don't touch them, either...their monetary value is supremely surpassed by the sentimental value. Now, um...get out?” That sounded too mean. “Disembark the Library?” No, too nerdy. “Leave!!!!” Good enough?

"... Leave? But I didn't finish what I came here for yet." With that, he lunged violently at Paris, letting out a shrill war-cry-like sound.

Paris screamed in shock, offering the Thief a kick to the stomach as they shrunk back, glaring at Alito and shaking. "Not cool!!" they yelled, covering their face with their hands in fear.

The kick hit empty air. Nothing more. By the time Paris had opened her eyes, Alito had gone, pocketing a few scraps of paper from the diary, as well as an odd, rose-shaped pin. Not his biggest finds, but still, better than nothing. The more he had, the more likely he could use something to talk his way out of a bad situation. And that was good.
With that thought and a soft chuckle left drifting down the hall, Alito returned to his room with ill-gotten goods, locking the door behind him.

As Paris slowly sunk to the floor in exasperation, they realized Alito had already disappeared from the room, most likely having taken something on the way out. The Librarian gazed through their room slowly, until their eyes settled on the pile of pins. The precious rose brooch was gone, missing from its outermost position in the pile. No. Anything but the pin...but yet, it didn't materialize into view. No matter how much Paris pleaded, it was gone with the wind. Or in this case, the boy.
They stood up on shaky legs, their eyes slowly drifting to the diary. And what awaited them but even more torn pages? It seemed Alito had lied about not taking the pages earlier, now that a few more had gone missing. The tears came as the Librarian sat on the bed, slamming the diary shut and flinging it across the room. Another failure.
