fear is not an option
luck is not a factor,
luck is not a factor,
Ryuu took the cards back, and threw the diamond royal flush over the side of the ship. He went through the rest of the deck and threw the rest of the kings, queens, jacks, tens, and aces all over-board, he looked up at N10 with a firm and stubborn look in his eyes. He held up the remaining deck and shook his head slightly, using his free hand to push his glasses back closer to his eyes, as gravity seemed to push the down his nose slightly.
“The game gets rigged. There is no chance for you to draw a royal flush. The rules are you draw one, or you lose. How do you win? Without strategy, you can’t get those cards back in. If you depend on luck, you have no way to win. But with strategy, you can increase the probability, you can make it so there is a way to win. You find a loophole, you cheat, whatever it is, you find a way, instead of going in blind and hoping things work. You cannot trust anyone, anything but yourself to get you through.”
Ryuu handed the remaining deck to Arare. “There is nothing that can make be believe that ‘luck’ is real. I used to, but that belief cost me the life of someone I loved. I can never do it again.” Having forgotten for a moment the reason he had approached N10, he got caught up in his emotions, immediately regretting revealing that piece of information to the useless expendable.
