Luck Is Expendable [Arare]

There it was. Arare had a bad feeling about this. The ones that were the most skeptical of her luck were typically the ones that had once believed in it and had it fail them. Standing there with the cards in her hands she took a deep breath as silence formed between the two of them. Well, three counting Monokuma.

She looked down at the deck of cards in her hand and gave it a shuffle before drawing the top five. The 5 through 9 of Hearts. A Straight Flush. The best outcome from what left of the deck he had left her. She put the cards back on the deck without showing him. "That... What you said there about planning, and strategy. That is in a way... is better than what I have." She said, shuffling the cards again, drawing five.

Another High Straight Flush. This time of Clubs, the last of the suits to grace her draws. She didn't show it to him again.

"All I can do, all I have in life, is chance. Things always go my way... but only if they can go my way... And if by going my way, someone else suffers, I can do nothing to stop that. Here, on this boat, I have to focus on keeping happy and cheerful and hope that somehow food will show up some way other than when someone dies, because if it doesn't then someone will. They will die because 'I am too lucky to die like this.' I've done what I can to keep something like that from happening before in my life, but... I can only do so much..."

She took another deep breath. "I know you must hate what this sounds like... That I'm cursed because I'm 'Too Lucky,' but... You've revealed to me something deep about you, so it would be more rude to reply to that by not letting you know about me... I've known that I'm luckier than most everyone else my whole life. People would crowd around me and I'd draw cards or roll dice or whatever to show it off to them and... If I wasn't so Lucky then I might have had a normal childhood. I have a twin sister. Her name is Kumori. I've not seen her since we were very young. Because people paid so much attention to me... Someone noticed that no one noticed her. She wasn't plauged with 'Bad Luck' like one might expect, but something much more dire... She was good at not being noticed. Before I was even old enough to really understand what was happening, she was gone. My parents, enamoured with the attention I was getting from my luck, let some people take her away and train her to be a ninja. An Assassin."

Arare took a deep breath. "You asked me what happens when someone I care about dies when my luck fails? I'm more worried about them dying because it was lucky for me. I trust my luck because I have nothing else to rely on. I have to make the most of it... I have to hope that what's best for me ends up being what's best for everyone... But you have more than that. By leaving nothing to chance, you take control of your own life and... That's a freedom I can never have. Freedom from the weight of uncaring fate I have live my whole life with."
