Asher wanted to get off the deck of the ship as fast as possible. He didn't feel like smiling, but smiling would make everyone happy so that was what he did. He didn't understand why everyone was so upset at him, or why that girl pushed him away from the sleeping girl. His pants still had the bright pink liquid from the sleeping girl, but it wasn't like Asher wasn't used to blood. He usually found himself oozing the stuff but bandages usually helped. It meant she was hurt, but Asher knew nothing about helping hurt people. The girl who pushed him away should know how to help the sleeping girl, she was something medical, Asher remembered. Whatever. He wanted them to be happy and him there made them angry at him for whatever reason. Maybe they wanted her to sleep and then she'd wake up all nice and healed. But then why did it matter to everyone that she was sleeping? Because they all seemed upset. No, no, stop thinking about it. He needed to focus on something else or he would make his brain hurt by overthinking it. What was he going to do? Oh right, exploring. Asher headed down through a hall in the ship and pushed open one of the doors opening up to a big dining room with a kitchen on the side. It was really nice, though the one at home was a lot nicer than this one. This one seemed really dark and a little dusty. His maid would normally clean everything. Maybe they didn't have a maid here. Well, that was probably for the better, seeing as he nearly killed his maid at least twice before on accident. Steering clear of the kitchen portion, watched one of the tables, before he sat in a chair to test how comfortable it was. He didn't even realize someone had followed him off the deck. Penelope Baron

Penelope raced after the heir. After watching his reaction to someone dying she became worried about his mental health. He could just be in denial, that's plausible, right? She would have to make sure he was alright.
Making it to the last step she was about to trip but managed to grab onto the corner of the wall to stop her fall. Once she balanced herself she looked up to see where exactly she was. Penelope walked down the hall, lightly dragging her hand against the wooden wall. Stopping at where she thought he went she pushed open the doors and stepped inside. It was dark but she could still make out that it was a dining room. She looked and saw Asher sitting at one of the tables. As she began to head towards him she noticed a fridge behind the counter.
Maybe the bear forgot to empty it! Her face perked up with this thought. She raced towards it and threw the door open ... and it was empty. Of course it was, the bear fully planned to keep his promise of no food until someone died.
Penelope sighed as she closed her eyes for a brief moment and shut the fridge door. She walked over to Asher.
"Hey, this seat taken?" Penelope asked, taking hold of the top of the chair next to him.

Asher was forcing a smile onto his face so that if anyone came near him, they would think he was just fine. Truthfully, he wasn’t really happy. Everyone else seemed upset, and that made him upset. But negativity from him would just make things worse, wouldn’t it? Wait hold on, wouldn’t two negatives cancel out and become positive? Like in math? No, no, in his experience that didn’t work out. And… well, there were sixteen people, and one was sleeping so she couldn’t be negative or positive, so he had to offset the negatives, right? Well, maybe. Whatever. A smile couldn’t hurt anyone but himself. However, a purple haired girl sat in front of him and Asher forced his smile to grow even bigger, to the point it almost hurt his face to smile. “I don’t think it’s taken. Unless Captain Monokuma stole it, then someone is probably missing their chair.” He hoped that the captain hadn’t stolen the chair just for them to use. Now he was starting to feel bad about using a stolen chair… if of course it had been stolen. But there was still that possibility so it was slightly upsetting to him. “Did you find any food yet?” Sure, they just started looking and he was the first one to really just run off, but there was still a possibility she found something. Especially since he was just sitting here and not really looking. Damn. Maybe he should be looking. People would be angry if he didn’t look. His pants still had the blood on them, and it was a little bit cold. Oh well, he’d change his pants later. It wasn’t like he wasn’t used to bloo– He leaned back in his chair a little too far and soon found himself falling back, hitting the ground as the sound of wood hitting wood rang through his ears. Asher quickly jumped to his feet and smiled nervously at Penelope. “I’m alright!” He didn’t want her to worry about him, make her feel more upset because of him, when she was already upset because of the sleeper, probably. Penelopes smile faltered. Is this guy really this disconnected to society as to not understand simple concepts like death or common phrases? It might not have been the best idea to run after him after all. If he doesn't understand death, then he might go ahead and try to kill someone, not understanding what he is doing. No, she couldn't let herself think like this. Paranoia is not her ally in this situation... not yet anyway. Even if the young heir was acting suspicious. For now she would just have to continue on. They were in this together, so they would escape together!
"Sadly no. Looks like that weird bear is planning to starve us into insanity." She replied, resting her elbow on the table and letting her head droop into her open palm, "I doubt that the others will find anything either. This could get ugly quick."
Penelope sighed. She had been trying to keep positive but it was not her strong suite. Maybe hanging around Asher would rub off on her and she could at least act like they were not all about to die. She was about to lean her chair back when she saw Asher go down and decided against it. Man this kid got hurt easily. He seemed more of a danger to himself then to others.
Watching the way he reacted made Penelope feel bad. He seemed to just want everyone to be happy, she could relate to that. He just has some bad luck is all... and some social awkwardness. Everyone has their faults though.
"Are you sure? Hows your arm? Does it still hurt from earlier?" She asked, remembering his rope burn. "Wait here".
Penelope got up from her seat and made her way over to the sink and grabbed a cloth. She ran some cold water on it and made her way back over to Asher.
"Here, this way it won't get infected." She said, gently grabbing his arm as to not hurt it anymore than it already was, and putting the cloth around it.

Asher continued to smile as widely as he could despite the fact that he felt like he was just making things worse. When he had mentioned the captain stealing the chair her smile seemed to falter and Asher nearly dropped his smile, but then he remembered that the smile would make her feel better, in the end, because happiness was contagious, just like hope and despair. He couldn’t let her be sad, and the least he could do was smile to try to make her feel happier. “I don’t think anyone will die. I don’t think anyone wants anyone else to die bad enough. I mean… it doesn’t matter how hungry we get, we’ll always like each other right?” Unless they got into a fight and Asher got upset and wished them dead and then cried into his bed until the wee hours of the night to discover that hours later they had died. All because they had a fight and he wished them dead. Sometimes Asher wondered if the world was better off without him, without him hurting other people, without him constantly causing dangerous situations and catching things on fire. But, the least he could do since he was still alive, was to try to prevent people from being sad. “Oh yeah, I’m alright. I fall all the time.” Asher said as Penelope went to get a cloth and wetted it. “I’ve had a lot worse than this.” He looked at his hand as she wrapped the cloth around it. “Ha! I remember once I accidently started a fire and that’s why I have this scar.” He pulled up his pant leg to reveal a nasty burn scar all the way down his leg. “Was lucky it wasn’t worse, but the school wasn’t happy when they had to rebuild the whole side of the school.” Penelope Baron

"That is lucky" she gave a small smile towards the boy, "Maybe you should have been the shsl Good Luck instead".
Once Penelope finished with the cloth she went back to her seat, making sure all four legs were on the ground before sitting down. This boy was just full of surprises. Life on the ship won't be dull with him around. Actually... there are a lot of characters here.
"I hope you are right. There are some people though who just seem so... calculated. They can be dangerous".
Penelope mentally scolded herself. Asher was trying to make the best of things, and here she was just bringing him down! Now that she began to trust him, she would have to try harder.
"But hey, even if someone got hurt. We do have someone with medical practice on the ship. Angie might seem a little cold, but she seems to care in her own way. If you do end up getting hurt worse than a bruise, I think we can both trust her. I know some first aid as well! basically just stuff like the Heimlich maneuver and a slight knowledge of drugs and poisons. So if someone tries to roofie you, I will know." She joked.
Penelopes face suddenly got serious. She leaned over and put her hand on his shoulder, "If you do get in trouble though, come and find me, ok? I don't care what it is for. I will try my best to help you."

Asher laughed when she said that he could be Good Luck instead of the SHSL Heir. He knew that most people didn’t think he was a good Heir, but the people at the school insisted that he was the SHSL Heir, so he must be, it had to be true because so many people said it was true. It didn’t matter what the others thought, it didn’t matter how his friends teased him and said it wasn’t true, it had to be true. The school said it was true. They were the one’s who made the decision. His friends had to be wrong, because the school was the ultimate say in everything. “Nah, I’m the Heir. Nothing else.” Asher’s smile faded ever so slightly before growing back forth even stronger than before. No, he could let the smile fade. He had to make her happy, he had to positive. “Oh don’t say that. They’re just… shy. I bet if I ran up to them and talked to them they would be a lot happier. Why would they be dangerous? I mean, we’re just on a ship. It’s not like anyone can die here.” Asher laughed heartily. His entire understanding of death seemed to be completely different than anyone else. That Teruru was just sleeping and upsetting everyone else and that made him angry. When he had to face the fact that people didn’t die the way he thought they did… well, he would cross that bridge when he came to it, even if he didn’t know he was going to cross the bridge soon. “What’s a roofie?” Poor, poor sheltered existence of Asher Black. He was fully unprepared for everything that was going to happen. “Of course! You’ll be the first one I call… and… thank you for being nice to me. Most people find me annoying. I just… want to make everyone happy.” Angie was the one who shoved him away from Teruru when he was trying to wake her up, Teruru was mean to him already, and really he hadn’t the chance to interact with anyone else yet. He just… wanted everyone to be happy, and he didn’t want to annoy people or make them want to hurt him. He just wanted peace. Penelope Baron

Penelope went around the table and hugged Asher close to her chest. This poor child. He really is this innocent. He had no idea what was truly happening. Sure he was a little naive and clumsy, but he meant well. Wishing that everyone around you is happy is not a foolish thing to wish for.
Penelope closed her eyes and smiled. Having Asher around was like having a little brother around that needed watching. That was a good thing for Penelope. Her entire life has been focused around helping her sister. She didn't really know how to live without taking care of someone. Asher could be that person, until they got off the ship of course.
"Don't worry about the others" she said, "Sudden change can startle anyone. I am sure that as time passes everyone will start to adjust."
Penelope tried to ignore the fact that even if they adjusted that they would still die of starvation. No, she would not let that happen.
"Come on, lets continue looking elsewhere. Who knows, maybe we will find a way to get home."
END.
