Waiting in the shadow of the doorway, Hazuki watched as those who had arrived before her mourned over the deceased and spoke of their disbelief. Although she probably wasn't trying to mask her presence on purpose, Hazuki didn't especially want to be seen -- following her escape from the room she'd awoken in a couple of weeks ago, she hadn't made much —if any— contact with her classmates, sans that bear who explained the Mutual Killing situation to her (she later suspected its 'kindness' was solely so she was aware of and didn't unintentionally break any of the ship rules). As a doll, the brunette was unfazed, so she simply locked herself in her room for her own protection and energy-preservation. Night time wandering between long periods of sleep served as her only exercise, so whilst some people were probably aware of her existence from seeing her unconscious that first day, she hadn't yet spotted anyone else even if they had potentially caught glimpses of her.
The dead body announcement served as her alarm this morning and after eating the food prepared for her, Hazuki'd drifted towards the source of noise solely for the reason to see all of her classmates with a much slimmer chance of getting murdered. Honestly, the five-foot-something blond seemed to be the only one with his priorities straight -- so what if the girl was dead? None of them had known her personally and since her sacrifice had provided sustenance, she'd actually done them a favour. Besides, she was a mere tattoo artist —as stated by Hazuki's annoying and auto-updating Electronic Handbook— so she was completely useless without her needles.
Slinking back, Hazuki folded her hands together and waited patiently for the final arrivals to pass her. She wasn't going to investigate until given reason to; why exert herself?

Monokuma was watching the whole time, watching as the life drained away from the first student on the ship of despair. He was laughing, and then had his monominions set out breakfast for each student so they would know what had happened, and go searching. It was just time to wait until they all woke up. He prepared the Monkuma file for the trial, as he studied it to make sure the information was accurate but wouldn’t give away anything. Of course, he wanted them to struggle with the trial, and see their faces when finally they discovered who the murderer was and the plans he had in store for them afterwards. Everyone had finally found the body when Monokuma decided to make his appearance. Using his super-secret magic trap doors he could simply appear out of, he popped up right behind Penelope’s body. “Whoa, looks like we have our first murder.” Monokuma laughed holding his paw in front of his face. He held up a stack of Monokuma Files and started to hand them out. “These are your Monokuma Files. Information about the murder is inside, all that medical stuff that one would find if they examined the body with their knowledge.” Monokuma looked at the Unlicensed Medical Practicioner. “That means no need for an autopsy. Upupupupupupupupu.” That also meant someone who did the autopsy wouldn't be able to pull wool over their eyes with the cause of the death and time of death and things like that. Monokuma File |

The time of death was between 1:30AM and 2:30AM. The body was found in the kitchen. There are major wounds, seemed to have been caused by a thin weapon. There are no signs of a struggle. Cause of Death: Heart Stopped; No trace as to cause of heart stop.“I’ll see you in a few hours when our class trial begins. Find out who did it or… well, I suggest you figure it out. Oh right, and all of your rooms are open for investigations.” And knowing he was going to get protesting, he decided to leave as fast as he had come, so they could get down to investigating. Posting Order is Broken for this first round, but then investigations begin, and the order will be reinstated.

Luigi pulled out his e-Handbook to read the Monokuma file Captain Monokuma handed out.
"Her heart stopped, eh? Could it have been poison?" The butcher began to visibly shudder at the thought of it. "But what could have poisoned her, though? You'd think the wounds killed her, but nope." The black-haired boy was already thinking about the case.
Luigi then spoke. "So, what are we going to do now? Investigate?" He scratched the side of his face with a finger. "In that case, I'll stay here at the body, so that no one fucks with it." "In more ways than one, but that's even more gross than the fact we have a dead body in the first place."
Before anyone could complain, Luigi prepared his defense. "Don't worry, I may be a sick individual, but not even I am that depraved."
Ignoring the others, he continued to look at the file, just in case he may have missed something.

fear is not an option luck is not a factor,
Ryuu took the file the bear handed them, still refusing to call him Captain, as he didn’t earn that title, regardless he took the file and began looking it over. Her heart stopped, and that was what killed her. Poison did seem to be a good conclusion to draw, but then why the attack? No struggle, which meant that she was attacked when she couldn’t fight back. He needed to understand everything that was going on.
When N7 said he would stay behind, Ryuu’s suspicion heightened. Anyone could have killed her, but if someone were to stay here alone, if they were the killer they could mess with evidence on the body itself. He wasn’t comfortable leaving to investigate if Luigi was the only one. “Someone else should stay, at least. After all, anyone of us could have done this, we can’t let them tamper with the evidence. Three people should stay behind, logically, so if one is a killer, they can’t overpower those who aren’t killers.” After all, if one was a killer, they could knock out their fellow guard, mess with the evidence, and knock themselves out. With three, the chances of that would decrease.
Ryuu normally would suggest people to stay behind, but with the current situation, it wouldn’t be smart of him to do something like that. If he suggested that someone were to stay behind, then they might suspect him of wanting to go out and tamper with evidence himself. And he didn’t want anyone to think he could’ve done something like this, even if he could be a cold jerk at times. He wouldn’t have killed Penelope, if anyone. He would’ve been smart and killed someone like N3 or N6, probably N3, because N3 was expendable. No, whoever did this was not very smart with the person they decided to kill.

Paris rose on shaking legs, shooting a fiery, tear-stained glare at the bear as they took a Monofile. The rest had gathered around Eins and the body, nearly side by side. In a way, it was incredibly relieving; to take a few steps back and not have to stare at the pallid Tattoo Artist and the messy slices across their body. Still, the bile hovered in the Librarian's throat. Their fist clenched tighter around the small folder, and they turned to one of their friends. One of thirteen potential killers.
"A-Angie. I..." Paris got closer, dropping their voice to a whisper. "I don't trust the bear...but I do trust you. Please investigate the body further--Maybe you can find something it didn't." Their eyes hardened as they stared into her blue eyes. "Don't...d-don't give me a reason to doubt you." And then, they walked away, toward the Actor on the floor.
"Lucca? It's...It's Paris. I know...I-I know you aren't doing well r-right now, but...you should investigate, if you want. You're an Actor. Maybe you're better at seeing the cr-cracks in this f...fucking...mess. But I...don't blame you if you s-stay with her." The tears started to bubble out once more, but the Librarian wiped their eyes before he saw it. This was just another murder mystery novel. It was horrible, and heartbreaking, but they could grieve after they found whoever was faking their despair.
For now, they had to pull themself together and try to help. Without any information...they were all going to die.

[/i] God, the way he said it so cheerfully, like he had said they would all go out for ice cream, or that tomorrow was going to be a bright and sunny day just made Kenji’s skin crawl. It totally didn't fit in with the dark somberness of the scene they were forced to bear (No pun intended) witness to in the dining hall. It was enough to drive most people mad "Wait, so..." Every minute he was trapped in this room, the skater could feel his hart sinking more and more to the pit of his stomach. This was a nightmare, he was still fast asleep, peacefully starving to death in his assigned cabin room, and nobody here was dead except the poor girl who had gotten killed on day one. "So, one of us really killed 'er? This ain't a dream, or...or a joke, or somethin?"Of course he knew that wasn't the case, if this were actually fake that would be too convenient for the situation they were in. Still, one had to keep hope alive that maybe they weren't standing idle in a room with someone who had selfishly snuffed out the life of a friend, a friend who shared their misfortune and had been suffering along with them. Kenji had practically tuned he bear out as he stared sadly ad the corpse of the girl who only a few short weeks ago he had happily been throwing paper planes with and making plans for what they would do when they escaped as friends, only half paying attention as he explained how this file thing worked. Yadda yadda 1:30AM and 2:30AM.. Found in the kitchen, no signs of a struggle, yadda.. "Uhh?"Listed cause of death was simply Heart Stopped. Well, wasn't that just fuckin generalized. Besides the fact that most deaths could be listed as "heart stoppage, she was all cut up. How couldn't that have killed her, unless it was and in that case why not say that, unless someone just felt like being just a giant douche. God, this was going to be a major pain to deal with. "What the hell dude..." This sucked. This sucked majorly, and now more than any other time all the skateboarder wanted to do was go home and pretend this was all just a simple delusion, brought on by one skateboarding injury too many. "Seriously, what the fuck? How are we supposed ta investigate a murder? Most of us ain't cops, or detectives or whatever tha shit."[/ul]

I WILL GRAB MY FREEDOM WITH MY OWN HANDS. Monokuma file, huh? Wow, how considerate. Once the bear had disappeared again, Aniki flipped through the his copy of the file and skimmed its contents. There were no signs of struggle. Cause of Death: Heart Stopped; No trace as to cause of heart stop....What the hell, what was that supposed to mean? Were the knife wounds just a red herring? Did Baron die from a fucking heart attack or something? Poison was another possibility, but where would anyone even get that kind of thing on this ship? And no sign of struggle... Unless Baron really had just randomly dropped dead, he doubted the tattoo artist would just allow someone to stick a knife in her. So either the girl had been asleep—but you could only sleep in the rooms, couldn't you?—or the struggle had occurred elsewhere. But then what about the heart stopping? Getting knifed wouldn't just randomly make your heart stop beating like that. Was she so shocked by her assailant that she'd had heart failure or? Was there some weird kung-fu-chi shit going on? Getting more and more irritated by the contradictory elements present in the file, Aniki shook his head to rid himself of his useless thoughts. Best not clutter his mind with anything stupid and just stick with the facts. So the heart had stopped for no discernible reason; that was the most the file was going to tell them. Were the knife wounds related to that, or not? Not to mention... Aniki sent a swift, unreadable glance at Angie, who seemed to be lending her ear to the mousy kid who'd said Ryuu's name. Thinking back to that time he'd run into her in the kitchen, the kitten couldn't have... No way, she wouldn't have had the guts for it. She wouldn't have broken so soon. ...Or would she have? Had he overestimated her? "Four," Aniki snapped at Ryuu, eyes narrowed. "We have an even number; I don't want anybody poking around on their own without a partner to keep an eye on them." Who knew what a single person could do with that much freedom on a ship as large as this one? On the off chance that a struggle had taken place elsewhere, Aniki didn't want some lone idiot to slip in somewhere and secretly tamper with any evidence. He still wasn't entirely sure what this "graduation" thing entailed, and what would happen if the killer wasn't caught, but he could assume that it wasn't very pleasant given Monokuma's disposition. Still riding on the last waves of his irritation, Aniki turned his already heated gaze to the blond skater who'd spoken up with a question, but kept his cool and didn't offer an answer when it would have undoubtedly been nothing short of exasperated. So what if they weren't specially trained or whatever? All you had to do was keep an eye out for anything fishy, and that was it. There was nothing else they could do, and to muddle themselves with thoughts like "I don't have the occupational title to do this kind of shit" wouldn't help any of them. They all just had to do their best under the given circumstances. TAGGED @next | NOTES response to ryuu. silent irritation with kenji. |

Angie held the report in her hand, the cause of death staring right back. Her mind first jumped to the thought of a morphine overdose, but nobody else would have access to that except for herself. The first night after she entered her room was when she took stock of the medical supplies found inside – one of the few pleasant surprises aboard this ship – and she remembers clearly the amount written right next to morphine. She hadn't had a reason to recheck everything up until right now, but the thought of grubby hands rummaging through her belongings sparked fire in her veins. Grubby hands possibly belonging to one Hazuki Saotome. It might have been an oversight on her part when she didn't take stock of everything once more after that girl sneaked out, a really obvious mistake in hindsight. She shot the doll a wary glance, but it wasn't long till she heard Paris' nervous approach. The poor girl seemed to be at her wit's end, though Angie thought it respectable what the librarian had said last. Don't give her a reason to doubt, huh? “I'll check out the corpse, but there's something else I need to do too.” said Angie, responding with an equally serious tint in her eyes. Ending the sentence on that vague, gray note, her eyes wandered over to corpse in question. A slight raise of eyebrows appeared when she caught sight of the blade, the dull gleam of it reminding her of the episode she had with the Reject. Her expression grew even more sour as a result, helped not by the feeling that the Reject had his cruel eyes set on her, both literally and figuratively. It looks like she was able to harbor even more shittier feelings, a sentiment that she didn't respect or enjoy in the least. Walking over to the cold corpse, she let out a soft sigh. Her eyes closed, a silent ritual of hers woefully starting again. Angie wasn't the religious type – there was no God she prayed to, no gates of heaven she wished for the dead to depart to. It was a useless sentiment that she carried and parted corpses with, more for her own sake than theirs. 'Thanks for your sacrifice, Penelope. We'll live in your steed.' were her choice of words for this particular girl, her mind already beginning to sort the Tattoo Artist into one of the many files she had for the dead. Just another picture, another solemn face amongst a drowning many. One more corpse that would appear in her sideshow of the damned, a flickering film shown to Angie when she took back her rightful seat in that monotone, timeless cinema. She's long overdue for another visit, not too long more till the past calls, beckons and drags her back in. Corpses get lonely too.

[attr="class","base"] [attr="class","tagger"] [attr="class","tagger2"]@tag [attr="class","base2"] [attr="class","borderline"] [attr="class","postarea"] She couldn't hear anything, to be more specific none of it mattered at the moment. Penelope is dead and somebody on the ship killed her? It was something she still had trouble believing, but it was entirely possible. Elizabeth knew how none of these people really were, which was clear by the display of the body. A sense of justice seems to well up inside her, but what could she do? Outside of the fact that she's an outstanding maid what could she do by herself? Nobody left on this ship was trustworthy. Elizabeth was able to talk and stand on her own again, but even then the tears were persistent. Snapping back to world of the emotionally stable the thirteen of them left were given a "Monokuma File" which gave details on the state of the body. Elizabeth wasn't sure how trustworthy these could truly be since they're coming from that stupid bear.
"Cause of Death: Heart Stopped; No trace as to cause of heart stop." Maybe her heart just stopped because of her intense feelings for Elizabeth? If only that were the case, then this could easily be turned into a play and this could be one big act. The truth couldn't be avoided though, and Penelope's killer had to be found. For some reason Elizabeth felt responsible, wishing she would be the one laying there instead of her beloved. All of the rooms were apparently also open so we could search for clues. The least she could do was search Penelope's room herself, but a single suggestion wanted to ruin that plan for her.

Investagation time
Well a mess certainly did appear in front of the group. Though for the detective this wasn't anything new. A body, a perp, crime scene, case files... A! case files! Jun peered through the file their dear captain had given them and noticed to his pleasure that someone had already asked the medical practitioner to confirm the autopsy report. Tough the file was pretty clear.. The time of death was between 1:30AM and 2:30AM. The body was found in the kitchen. There are major wounds, seemed to have been caused by a thin weapon. There are no signs of a struggle. Cause of Death: Heart Stopped; No trace as to cause of heart stop. After making sure he read through the file thoroughly Jun decided to task the more prominent dilemma, the splitting of the group. One kid already offered to stay, followed suit by a reaction from one of the others. “Someone else should stay, at least. After all, anyone of us could have done this, we can’t let them tamper with the evidence. Three people should stay behind, logically, so if one is a killer, they can’t overpower those who aren’t killers.”His train of thought made sense, so there was no arguing with that. "Seriously, what the fuck? How are we supposed ta investigate a murder? Most of us ain't cops, or detectives or whatever tha shit.""don't respond Jun.."After a sigh he heard another proposition, "Four," Aniki snapped at Ryuu, eyes narrowed. "We have an even number; I don't want anybody poking around on their own without a partner to keep an eye on them."
"H-Hold on what the hell do y-you think you're saying? There's still a m-murderer on this ship. If we pair up like that t-they can easily just kill another person. H-Hell even kill the whole s-ship! You saw the body, t-they're insane!" The girl in the maid outfit replied. "Well four seems like a decent option, but then i'd leave 2 out, not counting the fact that we have people guarding the body." The Detective sighed heavily and straightened his tie he opened his mouth again. "Well the investigation group has a lot of ground to cover. But I also believe there is more to this body than meets the eye. So.. who goes where>"

The room quickly filled, with everyone that was suppose to still be alive showing up. Things wouldn't be that easy. The Culprit was bound to return to the scene of the crime, because if they didn't then in this case it would look supicious. But that meant that the killer was someone in this room. She was confident enough in her Luck that she thought about just guessing who it was, but without the evidence to back it up there would be needless debate over her Luck that may waste the time they had to investigate.
So it was a better idea to use her luck to find evidence and let that lead her to a conclusion, because at least in that case the more skeptical of the others couldn't spend time complaining that her claims had no basis, and the best person to help in that was the other person good at finding Evidence: The Detective.
Before she could walk over to him, the Bear showed up and gave them all an Autopsy. That would probably be useful, but as quickly as he appeared he disappeared to leave them to their investigations.
Arare walked over to Jun, "Well, I think it would be best if I went with you to Investigate. You'd probably be better at figuring out any clues I happen across and I have a feeling I might find some by chance."

Asher was handed a file and he simply tossed it to the side. The Captain was wrong, Penelope was just fine. He probably just thought that she was dead because she was breaking the rule. He just was mistaken. No big deal. Everyone seemed to take the bear seriously. Were they all stupid or something? They probably just trusted the captain fully. Asher laughed slightly when he saw that people were trying to divide out. Well, if they were insistent on investigating the sleeping Penelope… He wouldn’t stop them from doing what they wanted to do. It was probably a game of detective that Captain Monokuma came up with for when the Hide and Go Seek Game was over. There were some really silly people walking in, like one of the sleeping girls (yay, she woke up!), after he found most of the people. That obviously ended the game and they went right on the murder mystery.
THAT WAS WHAT WAS GOING ON! That’s why Penelope was pretending to be sleeping. Wow, everyone was really in character. He had to be too then, right? Like if Penelope was really dead on a show, like one of his favorite characters… Because Asher knew that she couldn’t be dead because death never happened when he was close by, it only happened far away where he could do nothing to prevent it, just him being here would stop it from happening, or so Asher believed.
He was never good at these games, though. Unfortunately for Asher he wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box and would probably annoy people. He wanted them to win this game, after all. Since he beat them in Hide and Go Seek. “I can stay and guard Penelope!” He raised his hand excitedly. “Then you guys can go and find all the stuff and we can find out who did this.” He opened a carton of milk and sat next to Penelope, drinking the milk straight from the carton. He leaned close to Penelope and whispered in her ear. “If you want, I can get you some food. I bet you’re hungry. You can break character for a little bit.” He had a loaf of bread, and a couple of cookies in his lap. He picked up one of the cookies and ate it. Well, his stomach was now settled. “I bet the smell of the bacon is making you so hungry.” He laughed and leaned away, hoping that she found it as amusing as he did. He began stroking her hair looking up at everyone with the biggest smile.

Lucca refused to turn away from the corner he had lost his lunch in, he refused to look at the damn bear while he was talking, he didn't deserve that much respect from him. He was treating this like one big joke. He was treating the fact that someone died like it was just a regular day for him. Lucca wasn't sure how much more of that bear he could take, he may have to jump ship soon in hopes of swimming to land. Nah that's crazy, there's probably nowhere for miles, and Lucca wasn't the best swimmer anyway.
Lucca turned back once Paris had started talking to him. They were right, if they wanted to live, they would all have to investigate. "Y-Yeah Paris you're right. I should go investigate, though I'm not sure how my acting talent can help with that, but I'll do whatever I can!" Lucca gave his best smile, though it was pretty obvious it was fake.
"Aniki's right guys, we can't just go investigate on our own, if that happens then the killer could tamper with evidence they find, and if we're in partners and someone dies, it's pretty obvious that their partner is the killer, though I'd rather that not happen... I-I'm ok with any partner, just let me know if you want to go look around with me."
And then there was the Monokuma file that Lucca hadn't looked at yet. Hopefully it would gave some good information in it. Lucca read the page carefully, looking for nay important information. Everything seemed to check out, but then he read what the cause of death was. Her heart stopped.
"Well no fucking shit her heart stopped, that's typically how most people die. What the fuck is that bear trying to pull!?"

Tamashi studied the file. He needs to look for 3 things. The thin weapon, the "thing" that caused her heart to stop, and where the murder took place. Any smart killer would definitely move the body to throw off the investigation "Hmm? A partner? Well, I guess I don't mind. Whoever wants to partner up, speak up. I don't really care who" Tamashi, as a sucker for mystery novels, always secretly wanted a partner in crime. A little child left in him

So, it seemed that the plan was to have four people watch the corpse, and all others explore. Guess now would be a good time to worm his way onto the rigor mortis brigade.
"Hey, uh, I'll stay here too. I..." This was gonna sound really questionable to some, but... to him it made sense. "I can search it. For anything that might be evidence. I'm good at that."
Totally, 100% trustable. Sometimes being well-known as a thief had its drawbacks, but whatever the punishment would be for not finding the killer, avoiding it was a higher priority than looting, for once. He'd have to hope everyone else trusted that he believed that.
